Default Monument Valley

Ever since the first time my wife saw "Stagecoach" she has had Monument Valley on our list of places to see.
Here is just part of the 360 degree view from our campsite.
When we got home we watched all of the John Wayne/ John Ford movies again. Having seen the locations in person made them even better. We are ready to go back.
You don't have to leave this continent to see some great stuff.

Great photos FLSTFI.

I'll have to add Monument Valley to my list of places to see.

Been there 4 times. Pictures don't do justice do they?
We're you staying at Gouldings Trading Post? Or that area?

Marco, you have to go and check it out! Magnificent desolation!

It was raining and dark when we got there so we stayed at Gouldings for the night. Next day went to the visitor center and decided to try the Valley road. After a short ways of trying to avoid ruts and mudholes from the rain the day before we turned back and spent the rest of the day and that night at the day use area. The van isn't the right vehicle for that and I didn't want to add any permanent rattles to it.
Besides the campground by the visitor center they have a "primitive" campground/day use area just a couple hundred yards past the turn into the Valley. The pictures are from where we parked.
And to add icing on the cake. Two guys, camped not to far from us, were members of a Cajun band, one of our favorite types of music. They played a few songs and gave us one of there CD's.
Couldn't have asked for anything better.
You are right about pictures not doing it justice. They remind us of what we saw and what we are missing. We are definitely going back!
