Davydd, would you please tell me about your second alternator. Is it configured only for your house batteries?
Thanks

The second alternator is strictly for the house batteries. Mine can charge the batteries at a rate as high as 330 amps on initial start up. Driving steady at 50 mph on the Natchez Trace for an hour I had a consistent 270-280 amp charge. After that the battery reached 100% and ended the test. There was no drop off as we experienced with the Nations alternator that we replaced with the Delco Remy alternator. Advanced RV has been installing second alternators as standard since 2013. This Advanced RV explains it in more detail.
