Ours is built in, but it's so noisy that we rarely use it.

I have no interest in one ever. I camped beside a couple that had one and could not believe the noise pollution that thing put out. When we camp I go to get away from the noise of the city and to listen to nature. Nothing better than a breeze blowing at night, the sounds of the wild, someones crackling fire and the fresh air. NOT the sound of an engine, closed windows and the odd fume smell. I can run everything I need from my house batteries or from propane. The only reason I would ever need the generator is to run the air at night if I am not plugged in. If it ever gets that hot during the evening I will make sure I get a site with hydro. In 20+ years of doing this I have never had the need for one.

Default Do You Have a Generator?

We have an '05 RT C190P with the generator...and love having it. I have yet to use it in a CG, but really like it when we go out shopping...wife goes off to the stores, I sit in the back and watch TV, or make a pot of coffee. I did put the Onan Resonator on, it definitely quiets it down inside, don't know about outside. I also have my Honda 2000 from TT days....really works well doing projects away from the "plug." Ron

Have a generator and use it when we stop in a town to look around, yes, sorry it is to keep the dogs cool.

Very important, we used in California up in the valley when they had brown outs and the camp voltage really dropped when it was about 114 in the summer. We would have left without the generator as we could not use the ac with the campground lack of power.

We have a '05 RT 190P with the generator and it is a neat item to have - more outside the camping arena usage. Have used it to provide power for a electric chainsaw for a downed tree in a remote area. Really great when the wife goes shopping - I fire up the generator and make coffee and watch television. I did install the Onan Resonator and that lower the sound somewhat. I'd buy another if I bought another camper.

Default generator

Yes, we have one...do we use it?? Nope...Nice to know it is there just in case.
But they tend to be noisy so unless there is lottsa space between you and the guy next door, it is rude to turn it on, I think.

anybody know how to get those smileys into a message????

I don't have my RV yet, but I plan on NOT getting a generator. At $4000 for the option, I'm putting my money into the other systems. Besides, I plan on enjoying the peace and quiet of nature when I'm out in my RV. If I get too hot, I'll just jump into the Creek.

Love having a generator. Pull into beach parking lot, crank up the generator, leave the dog with air conditioning. Pull into Wal-Mart for overnight parking - don't usually use the generator there, just watch TV via the house battery & inverter, but might use it for air conditioning.

No we don't have one of those stinky noisy things. When we leave the dog inside we cover all the windows with the silver bubble insulation and turn on the Fantastic fan. Keeps the inside nice and cool. Never had the need for air conditioning when camping.

I had an external Champion generator on my Class C that I just sold. I never used it much but I must say it was a very good selling point when it was on the market. If I get another one, it will be a Honda.

I did not end up buying a Honda. This is a Sportsman 2000 watt generator. Not as quiet as a Honda but not bad.

I got it via CraigsList for $100. They are around $200 online. It does run my 7100 BTU air conditioner
