Default Heat Pump

I have a dometic thermostat with cool/off/heat/furnace. I don't use the heat pump on the unit. I use the furnace or an electric heater. Does anyone know how to disable the heat pump on the thermostat?

Why? Just don’t set it to heat.

You need to be aware that with power off the reversing solenoid is in a position to provide heat. Only when you set it to cool does the reversing solenoid activate and provide cool inside so if you replaced the thermostat that only provided cool would it send a signal to the reversing solenoid to cool? You best leave it alone.

This information is second hand but I believe it to be correct. A failed reversing solenoid causes the unit to not cool.

Thanks for the response(s). The reason WHY. I don't use the heat pump and thought it could be disabled maybe and not worry about the reverse valve sticking in one position.

Default disabling Dometic default compressor heating

You can disable the Dometic thermostat from activating the air conditioner heating in compressor mode and thereby have the thermostat immediately activate heating via propane by turning off the 110V circuit breaker that powers the air conditioner unit. Then just turn back on the circuit breaker to re-enable the thermostat to activate the air conditioner for heating.
Hope this helps.

Meant to say just turn back on the circuit breaker to enable the air conditioner unit to be able to provide heating OR COOLING.
