Honda generator

Ok all I’m a newbie here and to class b motorhomes. I don’t want to start any controversy but I need to ask. Our 2013 Road-trek Ranger has an Onan generator that is loud like most of you know judging from all the posts. The question,, has anyone pulled the Onan and replaced it with a Honda generator? I also have a Predator generator ( that I love) 3500 with electric start. It is very quite as well and would make a suitable replacement. Thanks all,

I have s 2007 RT 210 Versatile with a 2.8kw Onan
Generator. I installed 2 lawn mower tubular mufflers in the exhaust line and it made a very noticeable reduction in exhaust sound. Not as quiet as a Honda but noticeably quieter.

Do you have any more details on that and maybe some pics? That silly resonator Onan sells looks like waste of money but a real muffler makes sense.

Measure the diameter of the exhaust pipe coming from your generator and go online to any lawn mower supply website and select the one(s) you want. I cut out a section of exhaust pipe in the middle from the generator and the end and inserted one muffler there
and inserted the other muffler 1 foot from the end where it comes out the side of the RV.
Does not effect the performance of the generator and is alot quieter.

I bought and tried out the Onan resonator by sticking it on the end of the exhaust pipe. It was definitely a waste of money. The sound seemed a little less annoying, but there was still plenty of noise, and the dB meter app on my phone saw no difference at all. So, the Onan resonator is sitting, unused, in its original box, in my garage.

I did the same thing, yeah it didn't really make much difference. Maybe slightly less annoying sound. I went ahead and installed it anyway since it was an easy install (cut out a section of tailpipe a few inches shorter than the resonator, and install the resonator with some high temp RTV and a couple of 1.5" muffler clamps). The whole install took maybe 30 minutes.
