Default Self Energy EG-20 12V Generator

Very interesting product. Self Energy EG-20 12V Generator

My understanding of it is that it's quiet (51db) and automatically comes on as needed to charge your batteries, weighs approx 42 lbs and runs on propane. I think it has a 2 cycle motor so you'd need to add oil.

20 amps at 12 (or 14.5) volts is ok.

At $4,000.00 it's kind of pricey!

This is quite interesting concept and I never heard of a 2 stroke propane before. I will have to do some calculation since the spccs are in metric. Just out of courocity since I am sure I will not be getting one

Maybe I'd be interested at $400..............

£2175.00 would buy a fair amount of solar panels and a small Yamaha generator and you'd have lots of dollars left over.

2,175.00 GBP = 4,423.69 USD today

51db is very quiet though. The Automatic option is nice. I like the concept.

The idea of charging 12 volt, is very fuel efficient. As it doesn't need to idle, to handle the load. Maybe if they take the self-start out, it would be under $400. LOL

Propane is a nice touch, more common on 4 strokes. But aren't they a little pricey too?

20amps x 14.5volts = 290watts / 756 = .38 hp In a perfect world.

I'm thinking of adding a 12volt 50amp alternator to my $150 genset. Got the alternator and nohow, just lacking a little skill.
