Default Smog Test dash light issue

My 2013 C190P passed the test ok but now the ABS, StabilTrek and Parking brake lights won’t go off. The attendant did push on the StabilTrek button under the radio.
I’m an 82 year old lady who is clueless how to turn them off. The vehicle seems to drive ok, but I only drove it 10 miles. When I asked the attendant, he just said, “don’t worry about it”.
Can I clear this with a code reader?

Thanks in advance for any help.

yes with a code reader- likely an autozone can help with that.

if you are anywhere near North Phoenix, come by and I can reset these for you ( and check that there really are no issues)

I'm near Shea Blvd and N 26th St

Thank you Mike for the kind offer to check it but I think I want to buy a code reader to learn how to clear it for next years test. Do you have any recommendations for a good one. I don't mind spending the money for an accurate one.

Thank again!

I use an app for my iPhone called OBD Fusion

it works as a code reader and does resets

it also provides real time information from literally dozens of sensors
I use mine most for transmission temps, fuel pressure, real time MPG and tachometer ( RPM's)

I use a bluetooth dongle plugged into the OBD port to send the data to my phone from Veepeak on amazon ( $30?)

I think the app cost about $20- I use it with a number of vehicles on an old iphone dedicated to this function

Harbor Freight has low cost code readers that will do the job. Just an opinion but forget the phone apps.

I returned the code reader to HF because it does less than the app I use.

and cost more.

MKGuitar, I bought the same dongle and app as you suggested. It didn't clear the code because I now realize it never had a code, just the ABS, StabilTrek and Parking brake lights were on.

I guess a battery disconnect is in order.

Even though it didn't work for the lights I'm real happy I have the dongle because it did tell me nothing was wrong anywhere. The wealth of information it provides is amazing.
Thanks for pointing me to it.

Hi, I assume you did the reset or clear code in the app ?

sorry that didn't do it

I don't have stabilitrak so have not encountered this

I'd ask the testing center, they may have seen this before

I did read a post on a mercedes forum detailing similar after a smog test on a roller dyno- the computer confused by 2 turning wheels and 2 stationary wheels

For the chev the default set of gauges works well, then I add the PID for tranny temps

cheers. Mike

Mike: Yes, I did clear the codes and I did ask the person at the testing center, who was not in a good mood and just said "don't worry about it". I think you're right, it's the same as the Mercedes issue, the test person kept jabbing at the StabilTrek on/off button and now it won't turn off.

Thanks again,

Langton

Careful driving, I would assume at this point that the abs is not functioning

I posted this issue on a chevy forum, see if there is any response

Mike, I'm taking it to a mechanic first thing. Can you provide a link to the Chevy forum?

Thanks,

Langton

Mike:
Yes, the parking brake releases, and the pedal comes all the way up.

Suggested ( on chev forum) that a more complex scan is required- if that's the case I apologize for sending you down the wrong path with the OBD reader.

They say look for a shop which does free scans- there is a Firestone on Cave Creek North of Cactus which offers this- maybe a shop close to you

Mike: no need to apologize, I had planned on getting a scanner but didn't know which one to get. The one you suggested is perfect for me, a beginner. The van is due for servicing so I'm just going to take it to my mechanic who is only 3 miles away.

Again, thanks for all your help.

Please post back after you've been to the shop

I'd keep your documentation and try to get the emissions testing contractor ( was Gordon-Darby for years, may still be) to reimburse for the issue resulting from their facility/staff actions

Mike, according to the mechanic the lights came on because not all the wheels turn at once during the dyno testing. Of course, the lights had gone off by the time I got to the shop. He said after you turn the ignition on around 10 times the lights turn off. I had started the engine several times before driving to him so I guess he’s right.

Thanks to you all for helping me resolve this issue.

Thank You.

the cause as described is what I thought

good to know that the "code" or warning lights will clear after a few cycles.
