Default B+ Wannabe

About four years from retirement and hope to do a bunch of camping and fishing using a B+. Currently camp out of a full size Ford van. So we're comfortable with the size of a B+. Built a bed in the back and a chest for our clothes, this makes us very mobile, but it's lacking a few amenities as age sets in. I am a little over 6 ft. and cannot sleep cross wise in our van, so the bed takes up a lot of room. A slightly wider body and/or a slide would be considered, pending the pros & cons. Camping more than a week gets uncomfortable and would like to expend our trips when time permits.

Any recommendations/preferences? Price is a concern (for the unit, as well as operating expense and maintenance costs).

Thanks for any and all replies.

Welcome to the forum garmp.

I went from owning a B to a B+ (small C) but I really don't have much advice to offer on specific units. I'm still trying to figure out what I want!

I have a R-Vision Trail-Lite B+. It's 23' long - too long for the average curbside parking space. If parking around town is important then a Class B is better. Wide body units like the Pleasure-Way Excel would probably meet your requirements perfectly.

That said, a B+ or small C does give you lots of interior room. You'll get things like an oven, double sink in the kitchen, bathroom with a separate shower. All very nice to have if your away from home for an extended period or if it rains for a few days.

B+ or small C units will generally have higher ground clearance than B's. That might be important depending on where you plan to go fishing. Fresh water tanks will be inside in a B+ or small C and outside in a B. If you'll use it in freezing conditions then inside water is better.

Chinook made some very high quality units before they went out of business a few years ago:

Maybe keep a lookout for one of them.

There's a B+ section on RV net that's worth reading through:

Having enough interior and exterior storage space is a challenge common to B's, B+'s and small C's. That requirement will be high on my list of "must haves' for my next RV.

Thanks much for the reply. And there is one thing (there's probably a bunch) that I didn't mention. The bathroom and the water tanks are the least important things at this point. With our current set-up we have contrived a system that works just fine, and the extra space is always welcome, Not to mention the weight. Really appreciate the advice.
