Default 2006 Roadtrek 190 Popular

Hello -- my name is Kay, I live in Arkansas and I just bought my first RV -- a dandy little Roadtrek. I have so many questions so was happy to find you all.
Can you tell me if and when I should use chemicals like: fuel treatment, fresh water tank treatment and black water tank treatment. Thanks!

Kay, welcome to the world of Class Bs!

I own a 2007 Roadtrek 210P which is very similar in most ways to your 190 and I am sure many of us on this forum can help you. You might answer a few basic questions for us.

First of all, although you are a first time owner, have you had any previous experience with a RV including trailers?

2. Did you buy your RT from a dealer or an individual?

3. Did you have the chassis (Chevy) checked out before purchase?

4. Did you have the RT stuff (refrig, AC, generator if there is one, heater, plumbing etc.
checked out by someone?

Those basic questions could be helpful to forum members in order to assist you.

By the way, if you go to roadtrek.com and click on support you can download a nice manual (assuming you don't have one) for your specific RT by model and year. RT has the best manuals that describe the "stuff" I have ever seen.

I purchased from a small family owned auto and camper lot. I did have everything professionally inspected prior to purchase including a Chevy engine evaluation. I have no prior experience with RV’s except a couple of short Class C rentals which is how I figured out I needed something smaller.

Congrats on your purchase!

For black tank treatment, this is popular:
Happy Campers Organic RV Holding Tank Treatment - 64 treatments https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007S0LDME..._PLmKAbGCA3ATC

Go ahead and give a double dose the first time.

Welcome to the list!

Why do you think you need chemical treatment for your black tank? If the plumbing is properly set up and in good condition, the system is fully-sealed and there is no need for it at all. I never use anything. Our bathroom does not smell. If yours does, you have a leak.

Thank you avanti. No bad smells — just wondered if these tank chemicals was how you keep it that way.
