Default 97 RT What are the wood blocks for?

My 97 Roadtrek has a pair of small wood blocks on hinges in the rear above the seats. And I have no idea what the purpose of them is, anyone know?
Thanks

My 1997 170P only has one seat in the second row (next to the sliding door0, but it does have that hinged block on the wall. It's part of the bed conversion.

It's been a while since I've used it so... let's see... you lift it (or drop it) when it's configured into a bed to reposition the cushions. Or something like that.

Yeah thought it might have something to do with that but I still don't see why they are necessary.

Probably just keeps the seat cushion from flying off while driving.

When the seat back cushion is in place, they support and assist in keeping the cushion at the correct angle.

Default The Hinged Wood Blocks

Roadtrek over designed and over built. The wood blocks hold down the seat cushion on the storage area and adjust the angle of the seat back.

Default RT hinged blocks`

Thanks for the question about those hinged blocks in the back of the older RTs. I have wondered the same thing. With these answers now I will go experment and see if they actually serve some purpose.

Default wood blocks

When positioned so that they protrude further out from the wall, they hold the bottom of the seat back out from the wall for a more comfortable angle (rather than vertical).
