Default Airstream gt 24 , ?extended warranty?

Hi I'm picking up my gt 24 next weekend. Anyone have any info or opinions on airstream extended warrantys. Is it even an airstream option, or a private company.
thanks

I would wonder what an extended warranty even covers. On my van, the warranty basically only covered the workmanship on the conversion. Of course, it had nothing to do with the warranty on the Sprinter. It also didn't cover any of the appliances, furnace, water heater, generator, AC, etc. which were all covered only by their own manufacture warranties. I suppose if the cabinets started to loosen, the warranty would cover them tightening the screws (if I drove it back to the conversion facility). I bet the dealer is sure hoping you buy it though.

Yeah, well, back when we owned an Interstate, we had a total of three claims:
1) An intermittent problem with the cruise control, which turned out to be due to an aftermarket trailer brake controller that Airstream had installed. I fixed that one myself, because neither the OEM nor Airstream would do so--each blaming the other.
2) One of the cooktop burner igniters never worked. Dealer said "they all do that". I had to scream bloody murder to get them to replace it.
3) One of the fancy doors warped badly. I called Airstream parts: "Oh, we can sell you the door, but it will be unpainted. We don't stock the finished ones as spares."

That was when I stopped bothering.

Save your money.

P.S. -- We loved our Interstate. Airstream service, not so much.

On an extended warranty for the RV components in a Class B, I have three words of recommendation: No, no, no. The only extended warranty I would even consider is one from Mercedes Benz for the automotive components. You're likely to become best friends with your Airstream service center over the years of the warranty while you have them fix things. Once you've made them whip the van into shape so it's the way it should have been when it left the factory, things will stabilize for a while. During this time, even if you're not very handy as I am not, you'll discover this thing wasn't exactly put together by rocket scientists, and there will be many things you can fix yourself. So, I recommend no extended warranty on the RV stuff. It's fine if you do so anyway, you rig your money, but while doing so know with confidence that adding an extended warranty for the RV components of your rig is nearly 100% profit for your dealer.
