Default do you use an external water filter?

When I purchased my RV the faucet aerators were in a drawer and I reinstalled them. On my first trip the lavy faucet cold water trickled out, so I ended up removing the water inlet and discovered it was filled with hard water deposits.

A filter could catch new sediment but not remove the hard water deposits already in the fresh water tank. Are the water filters worth the money and do they work well? This is a Southern California vehicle so the hard water problem isn't going to go away.

It's a 2005 PW Plateau.

.

Water filter can catch the sediment, but it will not filter out the hard water minerals.

We use an external Camco filter for "city water". But we generally use the stored water for bathing and dishes. We fill a Britta pitcher with water from the campground for drinking.

I like using a Camco in-line filter for catching the worst stuff before it winds up in the tank or the lines.

2X. You can get varying micron filtering depending on how small of a particle you want to filter. None of the filters are expensive.
