Default Failed refrigerator unit

I woke up to the odor of ammonia this morning...failed fridge cooler. I am in central Texas at a relatives house and will be ordering a replacement cooling unit tomorrow and we will install it when it arrives.

Does anyone have strong ideas of what supplier to deal with? There are several, offering 3 yr, 5 yr and lifetime warranty, rebuilt or new?

Thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks,
John

What size and brand of fridge and vehicle do you have? Some have converted to a compressor fridge with good results, though you may also need to add solar depending on your camping style.

A couple of folks on the Yahoo Roadtrek board have put in rebuilts. Many there seem to think the Amish units are the best quality, but I have no personal experience with them.

Ours hadn't failed, but we did the compressor frig switch.
