Correction: not an engine fire, electrical fire in the fan assembly area possible.

Gonna be an expensive recall for sure....

No one on the Hymer/Roadtrek groups have reported anything. Nor could I find any mention on the Promaster Forum.

Are you a member of any Winnebago Promaster groups? Anyone there had an issue?

One article I read said that it had been reported in a couple USPS vans.

Yes, all 3 of the main Promaster and WGO groups. All I've seen so far is a few fan units quitting, or one or the other fan dying resulting in an overheating condition. Several expediters losing theirs but no fire reports.
There must be a pretty good replacement business going on because several companies now make replacement fan modules for these, and they aren't all that expensive

I wonder why Ram hasn't adopted one of those existing replacements to use in their recall. Or would that be too logical?

Of course one of the issues related to overheating is our fake temperature gauge which never reads higher than just below middle even if you have just... you know... overheated.

Default Ram Promoaster recall

Just go my notice, but they don't have a date to resolve yet (probably waiting for parts). My dealer was aware of it last week when I brought the van in for a checkup. They think parts will come in some time in January and will keep me posted.

There are 2 recalls as of January 2020, one for the fans and one for the transmission shift cable. Both waiting on FCA for solution. Another problem I had on the ProMaster,
After having my transmission solenoid replaced under recall, my average mpg stopped working and only register 4.7 mpg. Even after driving 375 miles and 3 resets, it still would not go above 4.7 mpg. I took it in to dealer and they worked on it and came back stating that it needed a reflash of the software to correct bad reading. Charged me $285 and repair order states, "Found service bulletin for issue", which states perform IPC flash. Anyone know of this service bulletin?

If you are saying that you think it should have been covered by warranty, I suggest calling the FCA help line 800-111-6768. They have been very good about making dealerships remember not to charge improperly.

Of course I pay no attention to the mpg reported by the vehicle. I do it the more accurate worksheet method of entering mileage and purchases.
