Default First RV advice

Any advice please on an entry level RV for me and my wife. A simple one but not dirt cheap?

Visit some dealers, watch some YouTube, ask more specific questions?

Oh and for sure, rent some first to experience them first hand.

Since you are on this forum, are you looking specifically for ClassB, or more generically RV? Factory or simpler upfit?

If you are in UK check out bunkcampers.co.uk

You could rent to see if the whole idea works for you

You could walk through different floorplans and see what features matter most
( type/size of bed(s), bath/shower, storage, galley amenities, some may use bottle gas for the cooker)

They also sell off older units

We rented from them in Ireland, good basic units. It was a diesel Citroen branded Fiat, built for 2 adults with a converting dinette if needed. Cassette toilet.

I know this isn't what you want to hear, but really several years of experience is needed before figuring out what's important and what isn't. The things I thought would be important at first never turned out to be. I learned so much from my first camper.. I'd never buy another one like it!

It should be mandatory for an RV buyer to rent first before buying. It would be nearly impossible to avoid major expensive mistakes without getting some first hand experience prior to buying. Fortunately renting is pretty easy now in the US but not sure about the UK

I don't think you always have to rent first, but it certainly would help a lot of people.

We still have our first and only class b which is not 15 years old.

We certainly have personalized and improved it in our opinion, but still have not seen anything we would like better for how we use it. Roadtrek 190P 2007.

Not clear if you are looking in the UK or the US...

I may have put in the wrong web address above, I think as they expanded they got rid of the .co.uk

Bunkcampers.com seems to work

this is similar to the unit we rented, but looks even nicer from the pics:

Even before renting, it's super helpful to know how you *think* you will use the RV. Many short trips? Longer trips? Need to bring bikes or other gear with you? What's important? Sleeping space, indoor cooking, bathroom/shower etc?

Of course you may change your usage pattern but having a target will help narrow down all the myriad choices.

FWIW, we originally rented a 29-foot Class C with our kids. A few years later we realized for sure we want a much smaller Class B just for us adults! We never rented a Class B, but from our larger vehicle experience and going to RV shows we could figure out what was important to us.
