Default fridge not cooling

I read the other posts on this, but have a couple of other questions and a confirmation.

When I'm driving and the fridge is set to electric, it is cooling, correct?

I was talking to a friend and he said it didn't and he used propane while he was driving. I thought that was a no, no.

I'm a bit confused by the different types of current - guess I should have paid more attention in class. An RV tech said don't use the 12 V house battery for the fridge because it will drain the battery really fast. So that leaves propane and electric.

I will check the thermistor (?) and other things in the previous post.

Electric (AC) will only work when you are plugged in to grid power on most RV's. The exception will be for those that can power their fridge through an inverter.

Put it in on DC while driving but remember to switch it to propane or AC when you stop driving for the day. Your battery is being charged while your van motor is running.

Propane will work anytime but isn't the safest way to do it while driving. I've run mine on propane while driving but try to avoid the practice.

Notes:
DC maintains the fridge temp. It doesn't really cool.
AC cools adequately.
Propane cools the fastest.

Yes. DC is 12v battery power.

Thanks again. I'm going to find Electricity 101 and read it so I understand this all better.

How funny. I didn't realize you had an actual paper on this topic!

I have the Dometic Model RM233 which has the DC power function. However, the four position control knob is marked in clockwise order AC, Off, Gas, Off. Which position is the DC power function? Are the knob settings mislabeled???

Thanks.

I was wondering if the fridge runs off vehicle or coach batteries?
I think it would be coach, but I'm now not sure?
We recently used our fridge on DC and it worked to keep stuff cool, but if it's drawing
off the vehicle battery, you could get stuck somewhere and not be able to start your van.
Anyone have any idea about this? I guess I could ask RT service.

UPDATE: RT Service says the fridge runs off the coach batteries.
