Default Galleria ProAir AC not cooling

We have a 2019 Galleria with the 12 volt air conditioner. It has not worked since our very first trip. Have had it in for repairs 3 times. Coachman has made changes to the operating system, upgrades and mods to the fire fly control panel. So far nothing has worked. It now runs on auto but will shut down and not come back on. Manual also does not cool. We understand that we are not the only ones with this issue. Has anyone satisfactorily solved the problem or have any suggestions that may help? Any help much appreciated. Thank you.

Wow. Sad to hear about problems with your ac unit. Their 12volt powered ac promised high efficiency and I was rooting for it.

Did you have the TSB done? Looks like this could be causing some of your issues.

Please review the Forest River Service Bulletin.

Thanks, I honestly don’t know what that is and the link isn’t working on my iPad. Dealer said they have done all recalls and updates on the vehicle including ac and the replacement of the “fire fly “ panel. It may be something I’m not doing correctly.

That link is bad, but I pasted it into my browser. Now works fine on my iPad. Try this one. . .

https://dealers.forestriverinc.com/d.../225V21025.pdf

It is a 27 page Service Bulletin regarding a fix effecting ProAir A/C performance.

Here is what it says about the issue:

"The thermistor installed in the vehicle is not in an optimal location. The thermistor will need relocated, and software upgrade to the FireFly electronic control system is also required."

You can look at it and ask dealer if they have applied the specific bulletin.

This is not a recall, but a TSB - fix for the PROAIR AC on the Galleria. There are a lot of steps here for this fix, including replacement of the AC control board up on the roof. I would say this is a very difficult and complex fix. If one or more steps was done wrong it could cause issues. The highest likelihood of issues with the PROAIR is this or because of this. Since your system is still not working correctly if it is you or it is broken needs to be reviewed by the specialists that know the system best. This may or may not be your dealer.

This may also give others on the forum here ideas as to what work may of been completed on your rig. I hope you are able to get this worked out.

Default AC

Do you have the Li3 batteries? Does it work at all, on shore power?

Honestly don’t know. They made so many changes I lost track of what was done.

We have a new 2020 Galleria. We are stayed in a KOA in Las Vegas. The temperature is 106 degrees in the shade. Our ProAir is blowing about 76 degrees. It's been on for two hours and the inside temperature is 96 degrees. While it's blowing 30 degrees below ambient there is no way that the ProAir can cool the entire interior (and never cooled the front of the RV all night). We were here two years ago with a Navion in the exact same conditions and our Coleman Mach froze us. The Galleria is hooked up to shore power. We don't have the Li3. The rig was built and delivered in June and I understand that the upgrades were done. Compressor has been replaced. Are others having the same issue? If you are replacing the entire unit, what are you replacing it with?

2021 Models were being built in June - can you confirm the Coachman build date on the driver door jam?

If blowing 76 the ProAir is working, there is a HUGE difference between the Navion and the Galleria. I used to have an 2016 ERA and that is much closer to the Galleria than a Navion. It also had the Coleman Mach and it could barely keep the coach cool when we were in Joshua Tree in the summer. It was also 110 and no shade - it never cooled the coach during the day if we just sat there - we didn't, we kept touring while light out. The windows are huge and insulation on the ERA was almost none. The Galleria is not much better. Get a cover for the front windshield, some refletix for the windows and then consider insulating the rear and side slider and front doors. There is a lot more info on the Galleria Facebook forum specific to attempting to keep these rigs cool. Best advice is to tour during the day with both the coach and rear AC on. When you go to stop the coach should be mostly cool already.

Good luck. I have a 2016 roadtrek with the pro air dual compressor under mount a/c and it’s been in the shop all summer. The main compressor works for just a min or two and stops. The second compressor then stops and it blows hot. Determined that the main compressor was bad, so ordered a replacement kit - still waiting on pro air after 9 weeks. Said they had to build the replacement kit. Finally got a ship date of august 26, moved to 28th, now sept 1st. Meanwhile the rv is in the shop in Houston (since early June). Not a good record for ProAir.

Sorry to hear John, but thanks for sharing your experience. Sounds a bit like other reports of problems we've heard here. A shame.

Wondering whether ProAir has always been this slow on warranty repairs or this is a condition that will pass as things slowly improve.
