Default GMC Custom Duramax Diesel

Would you consider this a class B or class C?
It is a modified 23 foot vehicle.
Do you think this would be a good deal?
Could always add solar and lithium to it.
Getting parts for it might be a headache.

it's a C-type.

The old 70's GMC's used an Olds Tornado drivetrain ( FWD) and are very cool- friends had one in the 70's. The draw to them was a low floor height because of the FWD and frame
I have a 72 Eldorado the drivetrain in which is similar mechanically.

this example probably has some interesting issues to be worked out and the builder probably sank 3 x what he'll get for it

I'd say it's a small Class A It's a motorhome body on a custom chassis.

There's really not much of the 1976 GMC Motorhome left in it. Undertakings like that are just amazing - tremendous amount of knowledge, skill & effort went into that project.

Thanks for sharing the find.

Were those old GMs as wide as current day short A's at something close to 8 feet?

The owner reports it gets 18 mpg when he drove it from Colorado to California.
I thought about making a bid on it but I am not going to. I think parts would be a headache to get.
The current owner is not the original builder.
The original builder owns this place Cooperative Motor Works – Vintage RV & Motorhome restorations - "The GMC Coop"
This you tube video gives a good overview of how the owner operates that business.
Also, this vehicle shows in the first part of this video for a second.

With the modern chassis and running gear, and later vintage RV parts, I don't think getting most parts would be much of an issue. All that is really left is the body, and going obsolete on stuff for that happens all the time with RVs. Look at how hard it is to replace the Lawrence awning windows that are older and the new ones are different sizes.

I've always lusted after those things. There is a very active enthusiasts community around them--parts are probably pretty easy. I have struggled for years to resist taking one on as a project.

Definitely a Class A.

Trivia: The "urban assault vehicle" in the move "Stripes" was built out of one of them.

Stripes is one of my favorite movies.
The original builder has a gmc one where it has a tailgate that opens.
The one in stripes was terrific with the way the back opened up.

My parents had a GMC motorhome back in the 70s.

I've always liked these GM motor homes. Almost bought one in Seattle back in 2005. Just saw one in a garage parking lot in Virginia.

This custom model is also listed on the Co-op Motor Works web site for $68,000. That is likely the reserve on the eBay listing.

Info on this link, just page down a bit to see details.
