Default Ham Radio Operators

New forum member Dan wants to find Ham Radio Operators who are out there in the Class B world.

If desired, a Ham Radio Operator specific sub-forum could easily be created for this activity. Alternately, discussions on this topic can be posted in the General forum.

Call sign here is N8DIU. Been ham for 29 years now. Not very active as it seems all I do is work trying to stay ahead of the game. The only thing I take with me is the 2m. The other half isn't interested and there isn't any room for any rig. In the past travels I have recieved good directions via 2m getting "un lost"

I have a RT 210 P and currently operate HF, 2meter 220, and 70 cm bands.
Equipment :
Kenwood TS-480 HF using a SGC tuner and a pair of ham sticks as antennas.
This will tune 80 to 6 meters
Mostly operate on 75 and 40 meters and occasionally on 20
Check my web site for antenna details. http://www.trekin.digital-digs.net
Kenwood TM-D700A Using a dual band Comet Antenna
On this I run APRS (info link http://aprs.org/) on one side and normally monitor 146.52 on the other.
My location can be found by going tohttp://aprs.fi then entering KC4GO-13 into the Track callsign box

If you wish to chat exchange ideas drop me a line. Be sure to let Mark know you’re interested in a break out forum.

Count me in. I couldn't travel without HF radio on board. The van has capability from 160 meters through 2 plus two scanners to keep up with the public service folks as I go. Call is W0JOG.

I haven't installed a rig in my RV yet, but will put in a multiband Yaesu this summer. Ham call is Double K Six Triple T (KK6TTT). See y'all out there on the road!

Default Re: Installations

Dan, I was disappointed not to find your equipment installation on the web site. I wonder where where you put the radios.

My solution in the Conversion van conversion is a custom made wood cabinet to match the interior wood and bring them all up next to me along side the driving position. HF IC-718 on top, MFJ mobile tuner next, 2 meter rig below that, 6 meter next (FM only) and backup AC switching power supply for campsights work on the bottom along with Powerwerx strip. Antennas are Hustler JF (now 40-some years old) on spare tire mount for HF and Larsen antennas on roof and corners for all else. Total is six antennas, but who is counting? Key to stable and quiet HF, along with good ground, is a coax 1:1 balun at the antenna base.

Doesn't look like much interest, does it?

OK - Me too!

Jim's KF4JQB (flew F4s and Just Quote Buddha -- our boat name - Laughing Buddha)
Nancy's KF4JQC - Just Quote Confucius...

I was searching for antenna mount ideas and landed here!
2008Chevy170P. May mount or "go-box" one of the rigs for travel.

Cheers - Jim
