Marco, check out www.cabelas.com and enter item no. IH-521709. It's a cargo carrier that just might work.
At least it's another option to consider.........We've got a Cabelas local to us and I might make it down there the next week or so and see if they have this in stock or not to look at in person.
Since we got the PW, we're beginning to see we will need something like this also to carry all our goodies. Not to mention the Lexor has a bit less storage space than a RT 190.

Thanks Bobojay - that is actually the same as the ROLA Adventure Carrier.

I think it will swing away wider than the Stowaway 2 but I don't think the passenger side rear door on a Chevy Express will be able to fully open.

This is just my impression from seeing various photos of it.

FYI - I had a response from Rola indicating that a 17" high item is the max height item that will fit in the carrier. I need to carry a 19" high item.

Neat unit! I wouldn't get it color matched though. Black goes with anything.
The 180 degree opening setup is nice and I like the way it seems to sit up higher than the others. Also the lid opening is kinda like a car trunk lid. Takes part of the side with it for much easier loading.

Only problem, the price, $769. + $119. shipping to me. WOW, too much $$$$$!

The Rola is looking more promising all the time..........

We have used the Hitch Haul and had good success with it; about $60 at Walmart. I picked up three of those covered tubs with snap lock lids while there and they fit perfectly. Used a couple tension straps to hold down. We only use it when we go to FL in the winter - carrying some extra goodies. Really like that Stow-a-Way, but haven't convinced myself to part with the bucks yet.

After much, much consideration and thought about weight issues, overhang etc. on our Chevy, we've, with the emphasis on "we", have decided to go with a 4x6 enclosed cargo trailer.
It's a Pace American Journey model. Only weighs 480lbs. empty with a 58lb. hitch weight.
Cost? About double the cost of a Rola swing out hitch carrier, but much more versatile. And can be locked and left at a campsite if we need to go somewhere without it.
And being a smaller profile than the van, not hanging out in the airstream to create wind resistance, it shouldn't be much of a fuel mileage penalty, maybe 1 or 1.5 mpg. depending on the weight, if that. Very easy to back up with also.

We figured for extended trips we'd keep extra clothes, water bottles, small grill, chairs and a folding table too.
Wife is a rock collector nut. So I'll have to figure out a holder to use for them so they won't be flying around at times.
I'm sure they'll be other things in there too.

The one big deficiency on the PW Lexor is the lack of much storage space in/on the coach, compared to the RT 190P.

We at one time had the solution - a pickup truck with kayak carriers and an Airstream trailer but my wife decided "I" was not capable of pulling and backing up a trailer. So now that we have our Pleasure-Way a trailer solution is out. We most likely will get a Stowaway II Max hitch mount mainly to carry the camp chairs and outdoor stuff hopefully along with two folding kayaks. The weight of the stuff would not exceed 200 lbs.

We have the Stowaway 2 which has a 12 cubic feet interior. It is rated at up to 300 pounds of gear. We rarely carry more that 100 pounds of waders, fly tackle, inflatable float tube, weber grill, and a couple of Wally World folding chairs and tables. The Stowaway came with a three way plug that runs the included brake and turn signal lights. They have a kit you can add with a lighted license plate holder. We have driven from Sacramento, CA to both BC (Canada) and Wisconsin without any problems. It does cover our rear plate on our Pleasure-Way Traverse, but so far so good. If any Highway Patrol took issue I would send for the kit. The only draw back is that it adds several feet to the rear of your van (parking) and when you take a ferry you will be bumped into the next higher length price ($5). Like most people I can always use 12 more cubic feet of storage.

I'm considering a NEW AEROPACK CARGO BOX w/TELESCOPING HITCH (universal) (Ebay Item number: 200196422007). It is kind of small (40") but only about $140 with shipping and looks like it will fit my Coach House with spare tire mount. Has anyone seen/used one of these?

I want to know why cargo carriers are not as wide as your van, so you can see them in your outside mirrors; when backing up. Some brands have tail.stop,and turn lights; so that is not an issue. Not all vans have rear cameras. Has anyone ever wished that they could see their cargo carrier, when backing up?

Because I tow a boat I'm not able to use one of these hitch mounted carriers. However I'm making my own... but it's mounted on 2 pipes that mount to the top of the rear bumper . The carrier itself will be a shelf all the way across just above the spare tire (though I am thinking about making it even higher, just above the windows). I don't plan on using the rear doors, but if I want to I can because the whole thing will just slide apart in a couple of minutes. I had planned to finish it tomorrow...but damn, working for a living sure gets in the way of projects!

Now that I have two inflatable kayaks and a receiver hitch on order, I now have to look for a cargo box. Primarily I need to carry the two kayaks that fit in flexible bags 30" x 11" x 17". I would also want to carry two camp chairs and other stuff that will fit. Whether I can get all this in this is what I plan. Kayaks and chairs are a must.

2 Advanced Elements inflatable kayaks - 73 lbs.
2 chairs - 30 lbs.
Dutch Oven - 22 lbs.
Cast iron tripod - 10 lbs.
Coleman Stove - 15 lbs.
Screen Tent - 30 lbs.
Miscellaneous tools & pie irons - 20 lbs.

Total about 200 lbs.

I'm pretty sure the LetsgoAero Geardeck 34 or 20 will accommodate the kayaks. The Stowaway2 Max should as well. By default and price it looks as if the Stowaway2 is the best. The Rola is too small.
