Browsing the info on the Grand Canyon model in Europe I found two interesting items.

Here is a Hymer accessories brochure, some of the items would seem to generic and might be usable in any Promaster such as the child's bed for the front seats...

The other item I found was a Hymer price sheet for the UK with all the possible options shown. In Europe there is a dizzying range of options available including a wide selection of interior fabrics. They must have a very disciplined manufacturing process to handle the number of possible build configurations. I would not expect to see option lists like these over here....

ECOTrek for HYMER products

Has there been any mention of incorporating ECOTrek technology in the ACTIV?

What is the verdict thus far on the stability of the technology for those who own RoadTreks? Is it a worthy substitute or a on-board generator?

Yes, I've been browsing that online store for a while. My passion for campers quickly got me on various german websites and online magazines [like the excellent ProMobil mag, available on iTunes] No wonder I added a K on my Kampervan blog [https://flipboard.com/@gogeorges/kampervan-u5qd3sehy]

Recent deliveries of the ecotrek lithium battery modules and the underhood engine generator on the Zion have been working fine so I would expect the same on the Aktiv which also uses the same inverter as the Zion.

The only thing I noticed that was a little odd on the Aktiv was the grey water drain having a full size sewer hose connection. I would think a connection to a 1 inch hose with an adapter at the sewer drain would make more sense. Smaller hose to lug around and you could move the drain line up a little to avoid possible damage.

I asked that question to Dean at LTV a couple of years ago and he indicated that the North Americans don't like to 'climb up' into bed. I told him that if people wanted to drive Class Bs then the manufacturers need to find a way for us to store stuff without a hitch and/or bike carrier. The more active bunch who drive Class Bs to get out to 'see and do' versus 'park at a campground' would appreciate it. I think that Safari Condo's Flex bed, Winnebage Travato G and now the Hymer Aktiv are moving in the right direction.

IMO, the Hymer Aktiv sleeping arrangement has to tried before buying particularly if it is for a couple. Try getting both on the bed and off the bed with your partner there.

A cocktail or two first would help simulate a 4AM pitstop (attempt at humor)

I have that crossways sleeping setup in my van and had to cancel a winter trip south because of a shoulder problem. There was no way I could get out of the bed without pain. Even fully recovered it is still not that easy getting out of the across-the-van bed. I guess it would be my last choice if choosing a bed in a van.

That's why I am waiting for the HymerCar Yellowstone. Same front area with the lengthwise twin beds on a 6.3m long van

I'd feel completely differently if Hymer had acquired Safari or Van Specialties. "Keep doing what you're doing, just do more of it! In case it helps, here's more capital, bulk purchase agreements with lower unit costs, and a few high-volume processes we've used" would make sense. Both companies are already thriving with what looks like a Hymer-like approach.

OTOH, with RT, they should bring in Hymer management.

I agree totally that the actual RT management doesn't fit with HYMER's culture, but they invested in a business. And they don't want to scare the existing customer base. They are going slow because they don't want to jeopardize their investment in RT first.

It takes time to reunite two B's hives. The best way to do it is to put a newspaper between the two hives. After a while the bees don't recognize the smell of the other group and get along fine. ! OK that's a bit too cute

I agree, North-South beds are the best. The extra 16 inch in the extended 159 WB of the Pro/Ducato, with a total length of 20'-11" (6m) offers that possibility.

And I agree with CruiseFx the Hymer Yellowstone will be the one for extra sleep confort. What will they call it? THE ÜBER AKTIV!

Some recent European vans have longitudinal beds in the short 19'-7" (5,99m) Fiat Ducato like the Westfalia 600E.

But like they say in the review it's like fitting "a quart into a pint pot".
