Default HymerCar USA

Does anyone know when Hymer vans will be available for purchase in NA? These are very impressive, I like the Promaster chassis and would definitely consider buying one of these...

I moved rclemins question to this new topic. For reference, the "HymerCar Grand Canyon at Tampa RV Show" topic is here: http://www.classbforum.com/phpBB2/vi...php?f=9&t=3455

Useful links:

Website: http://hymer-usa.com/

Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/HymerUSA

YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCzb3Fz ... DDHECNxS9w

I think this new topic about Hymercar in North America will be useful. What other questions do you have for Hymer?

So far:
When will Hymer vans will be available for purchase in North America?
What is the capacity of the LPG tank?

Euro Grand Canyon looks like this:

I expect it is the same in the US model.
The sink flips up to save space.

Looks ok to me. Why hide it?

I like the fold down sink. It appears very simple and functional, perhaps even removable for a thorough cleaning. The floor looks good as a way to keep feet out of the drain water. The toilet (a cassette one -- you can tell by the blue flush button on the wall under the sink) is one that can pivot to a number of angles, allowing for being able to do one's business without bumping one's knees on a wall.

I -think- they are hiding it because Hymer is getting mixed reactions to cassette toilets.

Yeah, the flip-up sink is great. Echos of 1930s streamliners.

Another Hymercar North America related link with photos: https://picasaweb.google.com/1019582783 ... 2015011404

The suspension system for the mattress is interesting.

We're seeing some innovation lately when it comes to beds in Class B's.
- Winnebago Travato with the Froli system
- Hymer with the suspension system
- Davydd's articulated bed in his Advanced RV.

The bed suspension for our Advanced RV articulated bed was first conceived as a slat bed. There are only a couple of places that sell slat beds in the USA. Ikea is probably the best known. We have a couple of slat beds in our house and I was tempted to tear one apart and build my own mockup. However, Advanced RV enthusiastically jumped in and the rest of the story is complicated best left to the Advancing Alvar thread.

Wow I am amazed nobody has news or updates on Hymer coming to N America. I would love to buy one of these. Anybody hear anything new, I noticed they took down their facebook page. Its not looking good, maybe they cancelled their plans to expand to N. America after hitting up some of the shows. Its so similar to the 59g but with the european quality of build, and winer proof according to their website.

Their YouTube site has one video on it, and no other. I am guessing they decided to throw in the towel, and I'm going to throw out a few guesses why:

1: US rigs require 120 volts AC, and 60 Hz. They mainly are using 240/50 for their electrical systems.
2: US rigs need an A/C and generator for the most part, or at least an A/C.
3: European rigs dump gray water from the bottom and use cassette toilets.
4: The transition from Ducato to ProMaster might have some issues.
5: Import issues, for stuff like cabinets and other items.
6: Market research, and hesitation there.
7: Trying to get a dealer network in place, which can be hard because they have to get a RV dealer who isn't already selling "B"s to do so.
8: Regulation hurdles.

Hymer is very well known overseas, but they really need to up the PR on this side of the pond if they are going to get in the US market.

I think you have your facts wrong.

Not sure you are correct about #1.
#2 it has 11,000 btu roof AC. And an Onan 2800 watt generator.
#3 It does have a cassette toilet, but has a 26 gallon grey tank.
#4 I dont think this is an issue.
#5 I have read they have a US based shop setup building all the cabinetry etc.
#6 Looks awfully close to the Winnebago Travato 59g.
#7 Dealers offer multiple manufacturers of B's.
#8 ???

Check out the specs on Hymer-USA.com

I was in contact with them at the end of March. They indicated that they were making some changes based on feedback received at Tampa and other shows. That's all the info I was able to get. Time for a follow-up.

I've been wondering what happened to them myself. Just kind of disappeared all of a sudden. They sure are missing out on a boom in "B" sales

Rome wasn't built in a day and it wasn't built in the USA. One regulation after another and the gueling process of hoops and some of them probably on fire! I believe that all the mid-year model changes and reconfiguring of the big name manufacturers are due to the frenzy of their own spies. They are producing record number of units. This is the best indicator that the Class B Van world is about to be changed forever with the HymerCar Grand Canyon. I am holding tight, how about you?

I too am holding tight. I was incredibly close to purchasing a Travato 59g until I remembered the Hymer news. The longest I can wait is until January 2017 so hopefully Hymer will push these out soon.

Now we just need Westfalia to come back to the US. Check out the Westfalia Columbus.

What, hadn't you heard that the Europeans know nothing about vans? How could those cavemen over there make anything that would appeal to us?
