Default Leisure Freedom 1997 door panel removal.

The upholstered door panels are held in place by matching round buttons. Any idea how to remove them without damage so that I can get to the inside of the door panel?
Thanks Joanne

A lot of my Leisure Travel RV is held together with screws, which are capped with a white snapped on button (seems like a standard button, that you would find on clothing/bags/etc), which you can gently pop off, reveling a screw. I can take a photo tomorrow if you need it.

Thanks for your reply.
The first two photos are the same size buttons - these are the problem! One is covered with fabric and one with vinyl. The third is of the small white button covering a screw - is this the one you are talking about? I have removed these in the past. Any ideas about the larger ones? Thanks.

The larger ones are most likely snapped onto metal snap heads, which in turn are mounted using sheet-metal screws.

Like this:

Just pop them off with a flat-blade screwdriver.

I removed the cap and there was no screw underneath - just this. Any ideas please!

Hmmm, not sure. The ones on the fabric (or perhaps only some of them) may well be attachment points for "hog rings", which impart the creases on the uphulstury. They may have nothing to do with attachment to the wall. The ones on the vinyl almost certainly have screws behind them.

Thanks for everyone’s advice. The white buttons do have a screw underneath. The question now is how do I remove the door panel if the blue buttons are just decorative? Any ideas? Thanks.

As I said, they may not ALL be decorative.

I will try and take a look tomorrow, didn't get a chance today as I was underneath it cleaning/painting some rust

I meant to get some photos, but forgot.
My door panel was held on by two screws on each side of the cubby hole in the door, abot midway up the cubby hole. They were covered by buttons. Any handles/etc are also screwed threw the door panel. the panel is then held on by a bunch of clips, that are attached to the door panel. I just gently pried at the edges until they popped out

Not sure. Try Googling "Upholstery Snap".

There are also simply crimp tools to make your own, if you have a scrap of the material you are trying to match.
