Default Onan oil change

Just to confirm - drain the oil - add 1 quart of correct oil - done

Which model of Onan do you have? Some of them only take 19-20 oz of oil?

Microlite. The stock unit that came in an 02 model Chevy.

I would get the model # and look up how much oil required. I believe it will probably be less than 1 qt.

I have had two Onans. First would only take 18-20 oz of oil. Second would take a full qt.

You can also just add 18-20 oz. Use the dip stick to check before adding anymore. Adding too much oil is a problem. I have done this and had to drain and re do the oil change.

The fun begins when you realize you can't pour the oil back in.

Get a pump. They make some that screw onto the top of a quart bottle of oil.

I second the pump suggestion. I had a problem with the output tubing kinking as it made a sharp turn to the oil fill on the Onan. To fix this, I added a rough "spring" made with stiff wire, which causes the thin tubing to follow a gentler curve.

As others have mentioned, the pump is a must. Once you get one, make sure it screws on to the oil bottle. Mine only fits the smaller diameter bottles.
