Default Please point me in the right direction

Hello Everyone - I have zero experience with regards to RV's. Been looking for a specific layout in a Class B that I can't really find.

We are not looking for something to camp in. We're looking for something for road trips or trips in the 5-8 hour range in general.

The basic requirements --

* Seats 5 or 6 total
* Very comfortable captain's chairs in the back
* A private toilet

I can find plenty of used passenger vans and plenty of used camper vans.. But a nice passenger van with a bathroom? It's like a unicorn.

I've seen a few places online that will do this custom work for like $150K++ (brand new). I'm not looking for anything fancy. I'd like to get what I'm looking for in the less than $100K range and used is okay (lower miles).

What I'm thinking about doing at this point is buying used Travato or something like that (already has a bathroom) and taking out the bed and kitchen area and having captain's chairs installed.

Is there a better way to do this? If this is a reasonable thing to do what make/model of RV would you recommend I look for?

Thanks

Eric

I would consider buying a full-sized passenger van that meets your needs and then get a bathroom installed. Not really that big a job for the right shop.

A private toilet is no big deal. I suggest you read up about the 10 ways? there are, and solutions for privacy.

Then buy a passenger van, high top or not and add a toilet!

Approximate cost of a standalone toilet based on a Thetford 402 cassette framed in prvite cabin with cassette access through rear door.

Aluminum 1515 Lite profile 80” x 32’ x 28” cabin frame factory cut - $400.
Thetford cassette (4 gal water 5 gal cassette) - $650
¼” HDPE or plywood $375 or $150
Misc. – bolts to the floor, door hinges, wiring, $200
Design (80/20 folks could be hired) 2-4 hrs.
Assembly 2 hrs.

Have fun.

You might check out the Winnebago Era X. I believe it has 4 captains chairs plus a seat-belted sofa. If the sofa doesn’t work you could remove it and bolt down another chair or two. I removed the sofa from my Era A and bolted in a cabinet (for the cat).

You know you can't safely use the toilet while underway?

Check out the layout of a Winnebago 2018 Paseo. seat belts for four on two facing bench seats in the back. you should be able to find a layout somewhere on the web, but if you can't, message me and I'll find it for you.
I just happen to have a Paseo I would consider selling; 6558 miles. I bought it new in 2018, and it's been sitting except for local trips since I bought it. I have just over $100k in it, and still hope to use it for longer trips, but at my age - 81 - doctor visits seem to be as far as we, wife and I, can plan on in the near future.
I'm in Mendocino County if you're interested.

Seating for 5 or 6 is not an RV if a van if you are not camping, sleeping or eating in it overnight. Just get a passenger van put a portable Porta Potty in the back with a screen. I don't know if you need a toilet unless you party has special needs.

Definitely aware of that law. When my wife needs to go pee literally 6 or 7 times between LA and Phoenix I'm more than happy to just pull over to the side real quick LOL. Told her no more road trips unless she "lets me" acquire a Class B with a restroom. It's a classic win/win!

That's exactly why I bought the Paseo. Irritable bowl syndrome, or something like that.
Two stops in fifteen miles until we got the Paseo. That "cured" it. . Thought about getting a license plate ; PRTAPTY.
