Pleasure-Way Ford Traverse

Thinking pretty hard about a PW Traverse. It has more than we really want (Frig, heater and extra battery - rather have the storage space), but are willing to live with it. Any PW Traverse owners out there willing to share their pros and cons, likes and dislikes about the unit? Any and all info is greatly appreciated.

I met a guy a couple of months ago who had one. He just loved it.
He was looking for someone local to replace a screen in the canvas.

I wonder if that's a common concern or if he had a particular incident. But the dealer is only a couple of miles from our house. I do consider that a plus.

I think they look nice. Good solid chassis under a VW style pop top. Got to resist the urge to move it
with the top up. I could see that causing screen problems, especially in a treed campsite/campground.
Is that a "penthouse" bunk/bed up top? Might be nice, but I wish the top opened towards the rear end.
Still, nice looking rig. For a specific type of camper, that likes sleeping al fresco. The price is right,
compared to some campers these days.

I have the PW Excel and it is more than enough head room (6'2") without the pop-up. I had a VW Camper with the pop-up and it was OK but you could only stand in one spot. With the Excel I can walk up and down the aisle and stand in the wee tiny shower. Just my 2 cents. Bb

I bought a 2002, (14,000 miles ) PW Traverse in 2012, but for the 14K it was parked in my friends garage. I cleaned it up and changed all oiles with amsoil, put a detroit locker in the differential. I sold it with about 16,500K on it to people down the street. I bought it back in April 2015 with just 32K on it. I put new BFG KO2 235/85/16 tires on it ( thinner and taller ), free flow exhaust system, already put a K&N air filter on it, 2 inch lift kit, reprogramed the computer for tire size and changed transmission shifting ( shifts MUCH better ).I love the camper and it is just the right thing for all the dirt roads here in the north west and the high mountain desert and mountains here in Idaho. I will be putting a alum. winch bumper and winch on the front, perhaps a alum. bumper on the rear, not sure. All I need is the tires, locker and winch, to go where I want to go. $12,000.00 to make it a 4x4, that is a lot go gasoline!
