remove air conditioner from 2008 roadtrek 190

I need to change the Dometic 3311563000 Run Start Capacitor
and looks like i would need to remove air or slide back
any info would be appreciated

Plenty of members here with the 190 P model like yours. I'm sure they will be along to advise your shortly.

Is your a/c currently not working, or are you are just trying to ease the start amperage for your generator?

Four screws at the aft bottom is all that is holding it. Wire nuts attach the AC line and a multi pin connector for the 12 volt control lines.

Takes two people and maybe two ladders to take it to the ground. While you are at it install an Easystart.

I wanted to repair my AC on my RT too, but it is not reasonable. The difficult part is the unit must be removed to repair that. The new AC unit will only cost about $130. I removed mine and replaced it, then had a failure less than a year later. Nobody want to do that twice in one year!

Yes had to take it to the ground then reinstall 3 hours labor at $134 per hour
works great now

Our thermostat in Popular 190 2012 (Dometic) is acting up. When it gets warm, doesn't kick in AC. If I push temp down it will. Does anyone know where to find replacement...have an URL for Dometic parts?

I also have one around the house here somewhere.

Personally I would (did) replace the A/C with a new one with a digital thermostat. Gonna cost about $1200 or so.

My thermostat had a 10 degree difference between switch off and switch on (called hysteresis). A new one may be no better. A digital one claims 1 degree and I think that is correct. We haven’t come across a way to put a digital thermostat on the old A/C.

Mine was "acting up" too. It turned out to be corrosion, New Orleans humidity.

I simply used some carb spray cleaner as I did not have any electrical spray to use at the time. Removed the cover and sprayed liberally moving the the thermostat knob up and down quickly. A few times, dried out, and Bingo!

I have needed to do it every few years.

I removed the dometic on my 2002 190 Popular since it failed again...second time....getting it out was only work because I did not know how mine was mounted in. The answer was not with much so once I figured out how to remove the rest was easy. If you need my specifics let me know.

The same thing happened to me. The recent failure prompted calls to RV repair shops with prices of $1500 plus and amulti month wait for parts so I took out the dometic heat pump air conditioner and put in an Emerson window air conditioner. $200 plus a days work. I think the whole system is much simpler now.
