Default Replacing the DVD player in 2007 PW Plateau

The player in our new (to us) van doesn't work. We plugged in a concert CD and got three songs before it died one night, eight another. What happens when it goes wrong is that the image starts blipping on and off and finally it all turns to fuzz. It would appear to be overheating. The Samsung LCD monitor works quite well and is all we need--we wouldn't replace anything if it worked the way it's supposed to.

But now that we have to replace the DVD player, should we consider buying a whole new 'set' similar to what's being installed in new vans, or would that be too much modification/rewiring and all that stuff?

Anyone done this?

I'd try to replace just the failed DVD player if it happened to me.

Is the Samsung LCD monitor a TV? Can it receive digital TV signals or is it analog only. If it is analog only then I would consider upgrading it.

We replaced the Samsung with an inexpensive TV so we could receive local, digital TV signals. The Samsung was great but was analog only. You could consider a combination TV and DVD in one. Rewiring is not difficult. I've wired mine for satellite, cable, TV and DVD.

Without repeating myself even if I can remember in detail, I think if you searched old topics here when I had my 2005 Pleasure-way Plateau you will find a lot of modification info I posted on replacing my TV, adding a hitch storage box, auxiliary battery replacement, swivel passenger seat, etc. Been there, done that. I've now moved on with my GW Van Legend of which I am again in the middle of tinkering.

Davydd, thanks, I'll take a look. Didn't realized you'd owned a PleasureWay in the past but have admired your inventiveness as is evident in your recent Tweak reports, so can expect some goodies.
