That sounds too big to be a change this late. I wonder if the original spec was typo, with an added "1".

I sent them an e-mail. however since the wife likes campgrounds and i was going to be in them mostly anyways is not probably a big deal to us-might be to others-it is however in the range of most b's which are usually 8-12

I noticed the trailer hitch rating for the 2015 Travato jumped to 3500 lbs whereas the Zion is still set at 2000 lbs like the 2014 Travato originally was. Can anybody explain what is going on here?

can't explain the hitch but hey booster-the 190 is listed as 10 black and 23 gray. is 10 black an issue for you?

all the other roadtreks except the 170 have 10 gallon black and 21-24 gray. so i guess i'm in with every one else.

For us, the 10 gallons is fine, but more would always be better! We have removed one of the fresh tanks, so we only carry 14 gallons, but find water very easy to find, if we had more black capacity we could do probably 3 water fills before we needed to dump, and that would be well over a week. We are very low water users, and generally only get solids in the black tank if no other facilities are available, so that doesn't happen often. If you are in campgrounds mostly, you will easily be fine, I think. I also think more often dumping, from full tanks, does a better job, so for that to happen smaller is better.

I think the 19 in the original prototype brochure was an error/typo too. B's seem to always have 8-10 gal Black tanks. It has been 9.6 on the website since it was originally added. I will miss the 29 gal on my current little C.

On our two previous Bs we had around a 9-10 gallon black tank. They were partially above the floor. If your toilet looks like it sits on an elevated pedestal that is because that is the tank. 10 gallons is about the physical limit. You should be able to easily get four days between dumps with that black and grey combination with the proper conservation practices and taking advantage of other facilities when you can for two people. Usually our grey fills faster than the black and that becomes the determining factor.

the furnace and hot water spaces were empty.

i looked. you are right the outside access looks like girard

i saw no bypass valves. girard does not need them, maybe you are right

Here's the photo from the other topic:

I had commented that it looks like a Girard water heater. I thought it best to move it here to the general RT Zion topic. The order of the posts got a bit mixed up.

This might be an early prototype Zion. Production units might have a Suburban water heater.

Very interesting, as we are learning to live with an tankless at home. Probably the wave of the future, although you may use more water due to the initiation time of the unit before you get actual heat. We see that at home and it has taken some getting used to.

I know the pic is the prototype, but I hope they make an adapter for the cover to better fit the body lines.

I actuaaly looked at both videos yesterday. However i do not know whch model i will get. the original or the 2nd generation.

in a small van i suspect the original is plenty. the negative of using more water will probably be negated by such short hose runs (probably max 5 feet)
. the saving of propane will be a good thing. we wil see what we will see.

I've read pros and cons. most cons seem to be from people who want them to work like suburban water heaters.

It appears that Roadtrek has another misprint in the Zion specs that also make it look more favorable than it is. They list the gas V6 as 280hp and 360ft-lb of torque. It should be 260ft-lb of torque according to the Chrysler literature.

Are there any Roadtrek Zions on dealer lots? It would be nice to see some photos of final production units on dealer lots.

Lake Regions RV says they have 3 on order, and at the show they said they were getting them with rear sofa, not the open aisle, but they aren't received yet.

That is where I noticed the wrong torque spec, on the listing on the Lake Regions site, and then I confirmed it was also on the Roadtrek site. Would be nice if it was 360 ft-lb

Looks like they need a new proofreader.

Did you mention the error to Dale? I knew that Lake Region was getting 3, but didn't know that they were all rear sofa. Ugh... don't really care for that option at all and was hoping to see the new set up with all the great storage. Seems that most of the major B dealers have three on order. I wonder when they might start arriving.
