I watched the video. Its main points: Dealers charge $2000 for a "required" inspection of new RVs prior to sale, it's probably worthless, you should have your own inspection performed by professional third party.

Never does he challenge whether or by whom these inspections are "required", or how they might be be avoided.

Frankly, I think any dealer who tacks on such a charge is stupid to call it by that name. In the car business, this is known as "dealer prep", and is a legitimate step in delivering a vehicle to the customer.

Regardless of what it's called, I dispute the video maker's claim that such an inspection is worthless. The purpose of the inspection is to make sure that the manufacturer got it right before shipping it to the dealer, to catch problems before it's sold to a customer. Done with integrity, this is a valuable service.

A smart RV dealer would build this into a standard practice, with each step documented, and use this as a differentiator between their business and competitors.

I'd be inclined to buy from such a dealer, even if their price wasn't the lowest.

Think about this.

We pay $50,000 to $150,000 for a new Class B. We pay in that range or perhaps less than that for previously owned Class B.

And we, the customer, are supposed to lay down and submit ourselves to a two grand charge for the seller to tell us about the condition of what they are selling?

Know any other product or industry that works that way?
