Default Shakedown Trip #3 Galveston! Success!!

I took my 3rd shakedown trip this past weekend. (Roadtrek pop 190 year=2000, 115,000 miles) It was a 600 mile round trip from Dallas. I am happy to report 99% satisfaction. Rig drove well, cabin air was cold, cruise control was perfect. We camped on the edge of town (Sandpiper RV resort) and were within walking distance to several restaurants, a McDonalds, the beach, and the local trolley ... which takes you most places around town for a buck!. Got 15 miles per gallon (my sweet spot with this rig is about 63 mph).

Fridge ran on propane the entire time and held temperature of 33 to 39 degrees. It is necessary to adjust the refrig temperature knob colder in the day and warmer at night... sunlight and heat of the day affects it's temperature.

Furnace worked well first 2 nights. Night #3, the furnace only blew cold air. When I got home, I removed the furnace, put it on my workbench, connected 12 volts, and ran it through the troubleshooting chart. Everything seemed to check out. (now I was puzzled). I cleaned out the pipes, reseated all electrical connections, removed spark ingiter and cleaned it PLUS set the gap a bit closer (1/8"). Reinstalled furnace. It works now. Still scratching my head, but I am ok with it.

Happy Thanksgiving weekend folks!

Looks like you had some great weather while you were there, .I love the Galveston area, we were there just a few weeks ago, it was still really nice and warm. Great people and the beaches were beautifull. Thats too bad about your furnace acting up, how hard was it to remove it, my furnace sounds like a screaming jet engine sometimes, so I think its time to do some repairs to it..hope you have many more great trips,,, take care,,,,

Thanks Peppster. Furnace access/removal was shockingly easy.

1 remove external exhaust grate
2 remove internal register/deflector
3 remove propane supply tube inside furnace.
4 remove 1 screw securing furnace to floor
5 pull it out! (after about 6 inches, you can access 4 wires to disconnect)

Did anybody notice in picture #3 that we are watching our annual seasonal favorite? (National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation) heh heh

"furnace only blew cold air."

Very common and we have yet to figure it out. Sanding and resetting the tip of the ignitor seems to fix it. Removal not required. If anyone has more insight please post.

I've saved myself a cold night or two with that trick. Wish I understood it.

Kicking it might work.

We carry replacement control board, ignitor, and numerous safety switches. Removing the faceplate and ignitor then putting it back together seems to work. Dunno why.
