Default Test run

Well we took the new B out for a test run on the weekend. I must admit I felt as comfortable driving it as I did my F150. The ride rite system air bags and built in compressor really help stable the unit. The onboard system also allows you to raise the back end 4 inches or side to side 2.5 inches. This comes in handy when getting the B level at the site. The 2010 PW Excel is so well built. No rattles while driving, the fit and finish appears perfect, everything worked as it should. The V10 powered the PW with ease up hills and shifting into T/H for the down hill allowed the use of engine breaking. When in the mode engine brake is activated by touching your brakes. This also worked well.

We are off to Myrtle Beach for the long weekend and have booked a site at Ocean Lake RV Resort. The site is located 29 ft from the beach. Full cement pad, palm tree, and the ocean as a view will sure to be another great venture. I will be sure to visit the Original Benjamens Seafood Buffet once again. It is the biggest Seafood buffet in the US.

Sounds great. Here's to many miles of great travel.
I didn't know newer Bs had engine braking. Is it muffled? Or is it that noisy
type that semi trucks mostly have? I'd be hesitant to use something noisy on a downhill
in a residential area.
Do you do Myrtle Beach often? I went there a few times in the 70s, and we always stayed
at the State Park near the old Air Force base/Airport. You woke up at first light with the
F16s being scrambled overhead. Nice park and cheap, we priced it out this year at about
$23-$25/night depending on what type of site you wanted. We were going to go there this
week for about a week to 10 days, but an unexpected plumbing problem at home has delayed
us indefinitely. So you're down there next weekend? Hmmm, if we got the problem fixed
by next Thursday (we need underground locates done by On1Call, so we're not holding our
breath) we might head down over the long weekend, but probably wouldn't be down there
until next Monday at the earliest. After the long weekend.
What's this Benjamin's place all about?
Holy crap! That Ocean Lakes looks like a city unto itself. Looks huge on Google maps.

Hi Mike,

We go to Myrtle maybe twice a year. In regards to the engine breaking I am not sure if it is available with all B's. I know it is when you order the PW with the V10 engine. It is not noisy like you would hear on a truck. It works good for long down hill roads where you would need to keep slowing or touching your breaks. Touch your breaks and it comes on...touch them again and it comes on even more. Saves your breaks and keeps you at a controlled speed.

Do a google for the Original Benjamins and check it out. If it swims in the ocean they serve it steamed, baked, broiled, fried, even raw.

We will be there from Saturday May 22 and leaving on Monday May 24. If you can make it down we will be the new PW (Silver) with Ontario plates right along the beach front. Stop in and say hello.

It's cool that it's not noisy. We live on an increasingly busy road and we get a lot of
truck traffic and engine brakes are the worst thing we've ever heard. There are
many US States that insist on engine brake mufflers, but not Ontario.

Checked out O-Benny's online. Looks interesting. We'll try it next trip.

You're right on Seaside Dr. then? Cool, you must know someone, who knows someone,
to get those spots??? Or you're rich.
We got our "locates" done today. If the excavation work is done, and the problem fixed
before Thursday, we might conceivably make it down there before Monday,
unless anything else happens.

If we don't see you soon, we'll see you sometime.
Mike.

Well, it's Sunday, and I finally have a chance to relax after 4 days of
dealing with the excavation on Thursday, and the aftermath. Our place
is built on an ancient creek/river bed (as we became aware over the
last 3 days) and I have a pile of river rocks about 6' by 6' and 3 ' tall
after raking and digging and raking again. They range in size from
golf to soccer ball and larger. I finally got things smoothed out a bit
today, and now we'll see if I can "grow grass on asphalt".
I'm exhausted. I have no idea what to do with the rocks.

Hope the maiden voyage goes/went well, and we will hopefully get away
ourselves sometime next month. I seriously need a roadtrip......

Spread 'em out in the yard and dream you are in the Ozarks, Mike.
