Default Tire Pressure for Roadtrek

Hello - I have a 1991 Roadtrek Versatile. I just got new tires for it. The guy at the tire store said 40# pressure for all tires should be fine. Recommendations on the door are for different pressures front vs rear, guessing due to the weight differences. Any thoughts or recommendations.

thanks!

I would follow the door information. It is far too heavy for 40 lbs. You will notice a better handling ride. Stay safe, Ron.

Hopefully they mounted Load Range E tires and used the metal high pressure valve stems. If not, return and have them mount the correct items.

Air pressure should be 80 in the rear and 60-65 in the front will work well.

I agree with SteveJ regarding tire rating and valve stem and I agree with Ron regarding tire pressure. You need E tires with metal valves and then fill to the pressures indicated in the door sticker.

What kind of tires did they sell you?

Agree with SteveJ, make sure they gave you the metal valve stems.

Thanks everybody for the responses. I will have to check - didn’t know anything about E tires or metal valves so I will have to look at this. The door says 35# front and 41# rear which sounds a whole lot less than what is being mentioned. I think I am looking at the right info on the door. The van is just under 19ft. I will see if I can find anything different in the owners manual and check to see what tires they gave me. Thanks to all!

Make sure that you are looking at the Roadtrek inflation sticker. The original Chevy sticker will be for an empty van.

Those tires will not last very long and the handling will really suck if you inflate to the factory specs. If you can't find the Roadtrek label inflate to 60-65 front and 80 rear.

If you choose not to believe what's mostly posted on this thread, call a Roadtrek dealer or Roadtrek.
