Default Toilet Needs no water or chemicals

HAMDEN, Conn. -- At the Pennsylvania RV Show, Dry Flush introduced a toilet that doesn't require water or chemicals for odorless waste disposal.

The patent-pending disposal system works by tightly wrapping waste is special proprietary barrier material that securely traps waste and prevents odors. Emptying the disposal system is safe, mess-free and takes less than a minute to complete. The toilet is perfect for boondocking, boating, and using with pop-up campers and tents, said Rod Livingston, engineering manager.

The full-size toilet is constructed with a normal seat and at standard height, and it comprises of only one moving part. Users can get 15 flushes before a refill is needed. Because it uses no water, it can be used in any weather conditions -- even below freezing. There are no chemicals to store and the toilet is spill-proof. The product requires 12 volts of DC power supplied by a plug-in adaptor or a battery pack that works for 300 flushes.

When a user flushes the toilet, the system mechanically positions the waste and wraps it tight in the metalic material in a way not much different from the way a pet owner would collect pet waste, said Livingston. However, the barrier material completely traps odors and waste preventing both from escaping.

Dumping the disposal bag is not an issue because every landfill accepts child and adult diapers, said Livingston.

The device weighs 20.1 pounds without the 5.6-pound battery. The device, which retails for $585, can also be used at home in the event of a power failure on a septic system.

Oh boy! Electrical dependent. That could get interesting. I'd want to see a full blown diarrhea situation and how that is handled. Clear water doesn't tell me much.

I think some sort of dog food mix could have been used for demo without getting too vulgar.

No Black tank to empty.
For DIY, no black tank to install.
Might be good.

A dog food demo would be good
