Default Waste valve cable sheath loose

While trying to lubricate a hard to operate gray water waste valve cable and moving the handle back and forth, the cable sheath broke loose from the bracket holding it. Now the whole assembly, sheath and its inside cable, moves together. Hence, the valve is now open and I cannot close it.

With some difficulty I can reach the attachment point, but it does not seem to be replaceable. So, does anyone have any suggestions on how to proceed? Also, how does one lubricate such a valve and cable?

Thanks for any suggestions!

go to a motorcycle shop- there is a lube which is made to spray into cables

applied with this tool:

https://www.amazon.com/Motion-Pro-08...dDbGljaz10cnVl

an "old timey" motorcycle shop will also have the ability to make custom length cables if you need

there are threads on lubing the gate valve- incl drilling into the edge and spraying lube, then sealing the drilled hole with a self-tapping screw.
I have not had to do this

When I owned a Rialta, I had the same problem with the gray water cable. The Rialta club came up with a modification that replaced the cable with a straight rod pull, which eliminated the cable. It depends on how your gray water valve is located but email me and I can help with this modification. m.logan33@yahoo.com

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately I can hardly feel the valve, let alone make a modification. In addition, the van is so low that I can't see underneath it. Maybe a RV shop can help. I am just glad it is the gray water valve rather than the black water valve. I can get along for a while. Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestion. Obviously I am not a motorcycle person! I appreciate the leads.

Here is how I raised the back of the Rialta. Maybe a muffler shop that can raise the van for a better look. If you are a do it yourself person, you could try it yourself. I had to cut the drain pipe to turn the section around so that the rod would be a straight shot to the outside. Some RVers have the rod on the passenger side as the only place for a straight pull.

How do you guys lube a rod type valve? Do you add something to tank to keep the valve smooth?
