Default Waterless traps

LTV is using them in their new (2015.5) Serenity B+ model. I saw this on fit rv's review of the new model. James pointed them out and said that they meet code. It seems like a great idea if they work. It would make winterization easier if you didn't have to worry about the traps freezing. Has anyone had any experience with these? Any imput would be much appreciated . Thanks Jim

Default Waterless traps

Airstream has been using them for years in their Interstates. They are known as a Hepvo valve -- check their web site for more info:

Thanks for the info! I'm going to move up from my "99" Volkswagen pop top camper van to a class B on a sprinter. Trying to learn as much as I can. Thinking about an advanced RV. Jim

I was informed by Advanced RV that they have been using the Hepvo valves for some time and that they work well. I didn't even know these things existed. When I saw the title my thoughts went to the waterless urinals with oil traps. In my former job we experimented with those.

I know from experience regular plumbing traps in an RV lose their water quickly as I imagine a combination of heat and jostling expedites it. It is probably a weekly maintenance chore to make sure the bathroom floor drain is trapped with water if you don't use it with a shower or if you just had a rather bumpy drive.

I wonder how they will work over time, especially as crud builds in them. However, it is a definite improvement for a moving vehicle's plumbing drain system than existing traps.
