Default What is the best bed configuration in a Class B RV?

New poll question: What is the best bed configuration in a Class B RV?

Notes:
Twin beds, one on each side of the coach - think RT 190P, bed can be made into kings size if desired
Bi-fold sofa with ottomans - can be made into king size if required of left U shaped
Tri-fold sofa - makes into king size
Double bed across the rear of van - think RT 190V
Double bed in corner of van - think Travato
Side slide-out - think Leisure Travel or Winnebago side slide-out
Penthouse in a poptop - on some Sportmobile units
Other - not seen as often now side gaucho, or over the cab etc.

I posted "other". My choice is twin beds, one on each side of the coach that can be made into kings size if desired but with the clarification that the beds be in the rear of the van. My American Cruiser has the convertible twin beds in the middle of the van which is my primary complaint about the van.

I would like to vote, but you've forgotten the best one of all. One king bed in the back, sleeping head in back, feet towards front. I guess more or less what AMcruiser posted ... but no way am I putting that in the "Other" category!

The only right answer is "it depends"!

Rear king is for us the best for sleeping, but in a B it's very difficult to shinny out the bottom to make the middle-of-the-night jaunt. So now that we have aged into that category, we are revisiting the "parallel twin" configuration.

So "the best" is one that can be adapted to what folks need. That's why I'm not a fan of the sideways-in-a-slideout configuration I've seen in some rigs.

Since I haven't tried out all the beds listed, I couldn't say for sure.
We have the bi-fold bed in which we sleep east to west with me on the outside. Neither one of us has to get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom (I cant wait for that to start, seems like I'm missing something). With the look of some of the newer fold-up beds, they look uncomfortable with the deep canyons between the backrest and the seat, but like I say, I haven't tried them out. Sometimes I want to rip it all out and make a permanent bed, like some have done here, I haven't because we use the back table all day long when we are stuck in the van.

Since the DW is up well before me and makes the coffee, I don't want to hinder her routine.

Oops, missed a few options I don't want to edit the poll questions - last time I did that it wiped out all the votes.

William - is what you describe a permanent king bed or one that can be two twins or one king? If it is can also be two twins you could choose that option. I think most rear twin bed layouts allow for them to be made into a king size bed. I should have added it though.

I'm all for the platform bed with storage underneath. Similar to what they have done in the Winnie ERA 170A model. The back section has a slide out tray when accessing the storage from the rear doors but can also be accessed by lifting up a section of the platform from inside. My dogs prefer to travel on the bed.

I also like the twin beds on the sides that can also be made into a queen or king bed. One time I had surgery on my arm and I could not crawl into bed but I was able to plop myself down on the twin.

Two months ago I would have said Pop top bed but I now have to say two twin beds. I like being able to just stand up and walk to the back to use the restroom. I wish someone besides the Coachman (Arriva) company would make a rear restroom model with twin beds in the middle that way 12 years from now when I retire there will be some used one's around to purchase. I should also add that the Arriva is too long at 24 '. I would prefer 22' tops.

I just bought my 1990 falcon intervec 190- and have not tried any of the possibilities but I do wionder where folks prefer to sleep:
The pull out over head bed above the driver and passenger seats
or the fold down couch / bed along the wall.

Any favorites?

Our new to us Coachmen Saratoga has two couches that could be combined to make a queen bed but we use the couches as single beds so there is no squirming to get in and out. I took the plywood out that folded from one couch to the other to place the back cushions in to make a big bed. Wife at first complained that we could no longer sleep together but we are still very close. So one big thumbs up for the Lucy and Desi set-up. As an aside. I just brought home a security door for my neighbor that fit right up the middle aisle from the back door.
