Default Replacing the VW engine

I am considering getting a Rialta, but am turned off by the problems I have been reading about the VW engine poor reliability. Has anyone replaced the VW engine with something else? Let a 3 liter V6 from a Toyota Sienna or Lexus RX300 or ???

I realize this could cost a bunch, but I have had very good luck with the reliability of the Toyota V6's.

Thanks,

Sinbad

Most of the VW reliability issues are becuase of poor maintenance. Before purchasing, I would ask the owner if they have maintenance records, chances are if they don't, they've not been doing good maintenance on the vehicle. Both the older 2.5L and VR6 Engines are both excellent engines. (When properly maintained!)
