I am planing on buying a 1998 Rialta. I must pull a utility trailer for my junk. I do not know the engine size or weight limit recommendation. Any help would be much appreciated.

I was hoping that someone would have replied to your post. I am also considering the purchase of a motorcycle type pull behind trailer, weighs about 300 lbs empty, to pull behind my rialta. As I understand the gross vehicle weight that the Rialta can haul is only 1000 lbs. This weight includes the weight of the passengers and the stuff they carry. Assuming that two people weight about 350 lbs, the trailer weighs 300 lbs, that leaves only about 350 lbs of cargo to carry in both the RV and the trailer.

However, I do not have personal experience with this, and would also like to hear from others who have tried it. Gus

I read somewhere that it tows up to 2000 pounds. My trailer weighs approx 800 and so does my motorcycle.

The Rialta has a 2.8 V6 140 horse motor. I find it is slow on the takeoff but is okay at cruising speed without the trailer.

I am taking the RV and trailer to Kingston next weekend. I will post on how well it went.

Towed my trailer with bike in it. Over 1600 pounds. Lots of hills. Rode a pulled with no problems.

If you tow with the Rialta, you need to add an external transmission cooler. This has been done by over 200 members to save the transmission. If your transmission goes out, you are looking at $6K for a rebuilt. Your trans fluid should not get over 220*F, as this shortens the fluid life and you go into limp mode until the fluid cools down (locked in 3rd gear). Many members have added a scan gauge to mointor the trans temperature. Instructions for programing the scan gauge is also on the Yahoo Rialta-Tech site.
