Default WHERE CAN I BUY 16 INCH WHEELS (to replace the previous 15s)

ALL

OK, I have found threads on upsizing the tires to high load capacity 215/65/16s

Now where can I find some 16 inch wheels of correct bolt circle, offset, load rating to replace my 15s

Cool looking 16s would be nice available

Any advice?

I'd advise against trying to increase the wheel size. When VW changed it on the chassis (starting with 2002 Rialta) they also increased the brake size and made other changes. Lots of folks have gone to the 215/70R15 all around with no problems. Some wanted to use Nokian tires and ended up using 225/70R15 easily. The main thing to look for on tires is a load index of at least 109. The 225's are rated at 112.

The wheels that Winnebago used are rated at 3000 #, so I'd try to find some that were at least that. I believe the originals are standard VW 6Jx15 with an offset of 55mm.

thanks for the info

I had assumed that the move to 16s was driven by more real estate for bigger brakes

I'm trying to upsize the tire/wheel package to increase the load rating. If the 225/70/15s are 112 load rated equal to 3000 each I will be satisfied

Any tire brands meeting the 112 spec that you recommend?

Thx

I believe the Nokian WR CVans come in that size. If you look at Nokian, pay special attention to the model. The WR CVan is an all weather tire, but they also have models for winter and summer tires.

Another brand to look at would be Vredestein. I'm not sure if they come in that size or not.

Stay with 15 size. Unless you drive in the mountians or in winter, I'd stay with the regular treads.

I've been looking to replace the steel wheels on my Rialta. I plan to stay with 15 in, will Jetta wheels have the load capacity? What about VW Factory Passat wheels for load capacity and how do I find out what the load capacity is?
