In the beginning, Coachmen bought the stripped-down version of the Sprinter and up-fitted it with nice components. I speculate that this was to keep the price down while they entered the market.

The problem is that it is difficult to upgrade a chassis after the fact. We looked at a 2016 model and the seats were delivery-van hard and we had difficulty with the sliding door, etc.

Since then, it appears that Coachmen is now starting with a higher grade of MB chassis, but I'm not sure when they made the switch.
