Default QFB Posting on Hymer sold thru C/W

I just read a post on the Hymer F/B Group...the guy says he has one of those Avion ONE, and if you use Grey Water you have to have a bucket outside to catch it. He said he was told by Hymer folks that is how it functions. Anybody know anything about this...really seems far fetched. He did C/W its usual bad remarks for service. Ron.

That's a European way. Just one more innovation brought to our shores by Hymer.

I didn't read it as an Avion, but as a Camping World Sunlight Van one. He mentioned that it had been taken back to the factory for work for him and that he was getting zero help from Camping World.

CW doesn't sell Avions. I will go back and find the thread. Often lots of people jump into these threads and it gets all confusing.

OK... I confirmed... it is the CW Van One... the first ones that came out. It is not the Avion.

I wonder if this has changed on the Carado Banff - which is basically the same with an upgrade in the work done.

I'm surprised that this is legal... now. I know it used to be seen in the 80s.

The specifications for the Sunlight callout a "Black/Grey" tank capacity (about 23 gallons), which suggests a single holding tank. And looking at the floor plan, I see that the bath is all the way in the back but the kitchen sink is in front right behind the driver's seat. So to tie the sink drain into the holding tank (which I assume would be located under the toilet), they'd have to either go inside the van and get past the fridge & gas furnace, or go under the van & get past the rear wheel/suspension/axle.

So my guess is that the bathroom sink, shower, and toilet all drain into a single tank, and it's the kitchen sink that drains into a bucket, which you carry back & dump into the toilet (or dispose of as if you were tent camping). Not an arrangement I'd want to put up with. And unless CW is offering significant discounts off the listed prices I see on their web site, you could get a 59K with the same rear bath, mid bed layout for not much more money.

sportsmobile does that on some plans. If you want basic stuff you get basic stuff. is gray into a bucket a big deal? some basic truck campers do the same thing

If the Sunlight is significantly cheaper, then I could see someone choosing to make that trade-off. But if you can buy a 59K for a similar price, then I don't know what you're getting in exchange for having to use a bucket.

I went back & took a look at the 360 degree panoramic view of the outside, and behind the driver door there's a gate valve, right below the kitchen sink. And behind the rear wheel there appears to be a more traditional sewer hose setup.

It was confirmed on another thread here that this is not true in the Carado Banff (upgraded Sunlight) and the kitchen drains into the waste tank.

I have to throw this out (no, not the grey water!) - I wonder if C/W shows "the bucket" as an Option - gotta make that buck! Ron

I'm the fellah who has been astonished that my Van One does not have a proper drain for the sink. I had numerous other problems with the unit, so Hymer shipped my vehicle from Denver back to the factory, fixed the problems, turned my Van One into the next model up with upgrades, and added shiny new chrome wheels to replace the old steel wheels, then shipped the van back to me on their dime. I now only have issues with door interior panels in the living area having loose screws. But everything works, so for $59K, I now can't complain too much!

Congrats, you have really got it done, plus a few pluses as a gesture of goodwill! Ron

Love your screen name.

The door panel on all the EGHNA promaster models have this issue with the sliding door panel. Even on the almost 100K models... LOL Many have used its falling off as a chance to add insulation.
