Default Travato 59G models... 259G? BU259G?

One of the most important things about my '95 Coachmen B19 is that the rear dinette can be made into a storage shelf area, and actually accessed from the rear doors. Or, with that access I can carry plywood or drywall or whatever else I need to carry in the aisle. Coaches with a sideways couch in the back may as well not have rear doors 'cause you can't use them as a van.

So that leads me to the Travato 59G... apparently the only floorpan out there that will still accommodate the use of the van for hauling. I'm thinking ahead a few years when the Travato 59G might actually be plentiful enough and have used prices that even those of us on retirement incomes can afford...

I've done my due diligence in searching the great expanse of The Internets... but I haven't found what I'm looking for, and the Winnebago website is silent on the subject; so I'll ask the Library of B-Van Knowledge stored here!

I've seen the Travato 59G variously advertised as the 59G, 259G, and BU259G... are they all just different names of the same unit, or are there trim or other differences among the three designations?

Thanks!

It is all the same. Not sure what all the numbers are for but the floorplan is 59G. There are only a few options to be had, colors interior and exterior, bike rack, roof rack and the like. As far as buying used figure out what items and upgrades you want and then narrow down the available years you would look at in the future....like the truma combi is a great upgrade that happened around mid year 2015. Running boards in mid year 2017 stuff like that....

All the same.. I have never heard a good explanation why the different terminology though.

I have 2016 G - LOVE it! I've hauled plywood, Beds, Furniture, Plants and trees, 100's of picture frames, and of course my usual "camping gear" that can consist of up to 6 large totes, two large anti gravity chairs, artist easel, stool, etc etc..

Thanks for the replies and info... I just thought it was really interesting that they'd be referred to in three different ways.

If I ever learn anything more, I'll let you know.

Scott, I'm glad to hear you're so pleased with yours. As I said, it'll be some years yet before I'm in the market, but it's good to know what's out there and how they're performing, long-term.

I'd guess it just has something to do with serial/model numbers used by Winnebago - They have come to be commonly known as a 59-G or 59-K.

Join the Travato Owners and Wannabes facebook group for a very active discussion on the Travato, though there seem to be a few owners here too.

The 59G/K part I get... two different floor plans... and the 59K isn't much better than having the couch across the back for being able to use the van to haul 'stuff.'

And thanks for the heads up about the fb group... but while I have a fb account and I wish my friends 'happy birthday' there, that's about all I can stand to be on fb any more.

The 59 refers to the 159" wheelbase of the Promaster. Winnebago's Transit Class B Paseo has a 48P designation referring to the 148" wheelbase of that chassis. The Promaster is about a foot shorter in overall length, but its wheelbase is about a foot LONGER. Therefore the huge rear overhang of the Transit. Disproportionate IMO.

.

Don't go on the FB group

It is a bunch of happy people mutually admiring each other's ridiculous RVs.

All they talk about are their wonderful trips to all corners of the continent.

Their biggest concerns are what type of collapsible cookware they bought off amazon.

I am sure you won't enjoy it.

HaHa!
Ah yes, I be one of them!
Most recent was a great trip to Big Bend in Texas, and then had 12 other Travatans visit me in my hometown for a meetup in the Ozarks!
(see FB for some great pictures)
I'm a little old fashioned, so still using cast iron cookware

lol
