Default Winnebago Travato Bathroom Sink

Our 2020 Travato has a fold-down sink in the bathroom. After owning the van for only 18 months, the hinge on the bathroom sink is rusting out, the rivets rusted out, and it almost fell off the wall, held only by a strap. We live in Colorado, in a very dry climate. Any others experiencing this problem?Should we contact Winnebago? Seems like a design flaw.

You might want to join the FB Travato forum. I have read of this issue and some members have fabricated work arounds to this issue.

We have a fold down sink in our Tellaro. I replaced the plated and rusting piano hinge with a stainless steel one and used aluminum pop rivets with aluminum mandrels. Problem solved.

I have a 2019 Travato 59k. I repaired my sink hinge when the latch and hinge broke. Go to WinnebagoParts.com (aka mobility RV). Order the piano hinge. It was about $50, over priced but cheaper than a repair shop. Buy a rivet gun on Amazon for $25 (comes with various rivet sizes). Drill out old rivets from sink and wall. Reinstall new hinge with rivets. I've never used a rivet gun but was able to figure it out watching YouTube and practiced to make sure I was doing it correctly. Reinstalled sink with new hinge and latch in under 30min and it cost me less than $100. Good as new!

When reinstalling the second rivet from the right on the wall is hard to get to because the sinks drain/spout sits on top of this rivet hole. I suggest riveting the hinge onto the sink first. Swing faucet to far left. Have a helper hold the sink with hinge attached and align with wall holes. You should have enough space to secure a new rivet in the second rivet hole from the right side. I then riveted the far left side of sink hinge to wall. From here the sink is secure and you can rivet the final 2 holes.

Hello, what did you end up doing to fix the sink? Mine recently fell off due to the same rust problem.

We forced a new screw in place of the rusted rivet, but it’s precarious and we are very gentle with the sink. So not a solution.

Smile Rusted sink hinges

I see. My sink has already fallen off, and I might just leave it that way. There is just enough space above the drain to wash my hands even without the sink, lol, so I might clean off the rust residue, possibly paint it to improve the aesthetics, and leave it that way.

Thank you so much for replying, even 2 years after your original post!
