Default Bed over front seats

I see Roadtrek offers a 30 X 70 twin bed option to put over the two front seats of their Zion ( Promaster ). We don't have a Zion but we have a Promaster and I was wondering if anyone has purchased that option from Roadtrek OR if anyone has made their own version.
We are interested in either purchasing one or obtaining plans to make one.
Thanks for any input.

There is a guy on You Tube. He made a hinge design for his MH. Do a search. He is selling the plans for 5 dollars. I think you can just watch the video and get some ideas.

Best of Luck

I had a hammock by Westfalia for my 85 VW Camper over the front seats. 2 steel telescoping bars attached to the permanently attached mounting brackets on A and B pillars worked great. https://www.google.pl/search?q=vw+ha...w=1920&bih=950

I’ve made a hinged mattress across the 2 front seats about 5 years ago and still in use today. I think Roadtrek copied my design, lol. Here is the link how to make it and it is free>>> Click here.

We got the RT bed over front seat option as part of our purchase. It works. My wife sleeps up front. We build it up a bit with two camping pads. She is 5'7 and it works. No complaints. My son and I sleep in back by making single beds on each side (for those wondering why my wife sleeps up front. : )

The only downside is the steering wheel as it does not move much out of the way and the horn will sound when the vehicle is off (not happened yet, but just waiting for it).

Prior to purchase you should try one at a RT dealer to see what it looks like and feels and what you may need to do to make it comfortable for your needs (like adding camping pads).

You might also consider this as a start for a self build:

Another option is for a hammock from front to back of van. Depending on weight / risk, you can use the front headrest as one end for anchor and then attach an anchor to the rear doors up high. I did this for a brief period and held 160 lbs no issue. short nap only. It went down the center of the aisle.
