Talking New Air Conditioner Project part 2

I got the new unit pushed in this morning. I woodworked some interior side wedges and a front rail which are superior to the stock plywood strips. Fine grained red oak! I will seal up the rear outside compartment tomorrow and replace the upper grill. The old unit pulled 6.3 amperes. The new unit pulls 6.2 amperes. New unit is a LOT colder too, quieter, and includes a little remote control too!

How's that Matt???

heh heh

Ha ha! Awesome job man! Like new, but BETTER!

I suggested to check out my thread because when I started, I had barely found any threads with pictures. It always worries me to start a project when I don't know what to expect. Now we have it covered!

Where are you finding your new grill? Mine is also pretty beat up. I'd like to replace it but don't have any cost effective ideas.

BTW I just finished installing my drip tray last weekend. I haven't had time to post it up yet but soon!

No new grilll. I reused old grill.

I am still curious how Mat's drip pan works and it precise location. Again, my A/C unit sits directly on a metal tray which angles slightly to the rear. Apparently overflow condensate drips on the main tray and backwards out the lower grill into the roof channel.
