Reducing solar loading
Saw a number of vehicles on beach in Yucatan with what is called sail shade netting. I also read about aluminized open weave cloth. So we bought an 8' x 7' section of something called Aluminet. This is very open weave netting that has reinforced edges and 5 eyelets on each side. The weave
This material is generally used for gardening/greenhouses and is very popular at outdoor dog shows to shade the dog runs. Attached is photo of cludged netting on 5th wheel.
We placed it at rear of our north-south oriented 5th wheel (south end) and it proved to considerably reduce solar loading and the rear end was probably 5 degrees F cooler than without. We plan to get a 8' x 12' section for use with our 19' Roadtrek and to cover the non-canopy side of our 5th wheel.
Should like to know if others have utilized similar techniques and if they have achieved similar results.
