Default Replacing Microwave. Width Restrictions?

The Apollo convection microwave has died in our 2006 Roadtrek 210P. The guidelines for the microwaves I am looking at call for 3-inches of clearance on both sides. The Apollo was much closer to the sidewalls than that. The Apollo had a fan, but i think it was only used for the convection operation. Using 3-inches clearance would make for a very small microwave.

Do you have that much clearance with your microwaves? If not, have you done anything to help ventilate the unit?

Any recommendations in general, or specifically for the RT 210P?

We could never get the microwave to stop rattling so finally bought a small bag you blow up with a squeeze bulb at Home Depot and stuck it back there. Give it a squeeze every now and then and it works like magic. Yes, the bulb is hanging out a bit but there's finally quiet.

No clue on that; you would probably adjust it easily. That's why this has been great for us.

For what it's worth I have a 2008 GWV with a Dometic microwave model CDMW07B.
On the top I have 3" clearance tapering down to about 2". On the Left side, behind the wood trim piece, I have 3" clearance. The right side is tight up against a wood panel and the back maybe has 1" clearance.
We don't use it that often but we have never had any issues.

I decided to simply install a cheap microwave from Walmart and not worry about installing a grill. I made some brackets to hold the unit down. The top provides some temporary work space while cooking. There is not as much clearance as the manual says, but I think it will be ok. Our larger house microwave has similar clearance and we have not had any problems. Will keep an eye on it.
