I wonder if a lot of the growth was because of the better prices from Winnebago. Their prices seem to be a bit higher with the newer features and improvements. If growth continues to stall or disappears and the numbers start dropping then price must be considered.

The Class Cs are up significantly. That seems to be the action. Still, 4 million Baby Boomers have retired in the past year and that is the biggest market. Not an encouraging report.

Class A's are still down. What is going on there? Disillusionment? Or just the only buyers these days are budget buyers? Or maybe the boomers who've been driving smaller cars for many years can't imagine driving a huge RV?

The Class A was synonymous with full timing. Maybe fewer are doing that? At least on that platform?

It would not surprise me that the B+ units like the Navion/View are driving the C-class sales figures and are probably popular with full-timers. If you have a limited budget, it looks like a good way to go to me.

Year-over-year Class B motorhome retail registrations soared 49.7% in October and 22.4% year-to-date, according to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI). The sector has posted sales gains every month this year.

Shipments are up 24.3% compared to last November. They are up 8.6% year to date.

The Cs are doing even better and I have to believe compared to the As that most of those Cs are the smaller ones marketed as B+s.

However, this is the 5th year of retiring Baby Boomers at the rate of 10,000 per day in America. The RV market is not grabbing its share, IMO. I don't see the economy looking all that optimistic. In my circle of friends and acquaintances in my architecture/engineering/construction circles there are quite a few that have never fully recovered from the last recession and we are unnervingly close to the next one given historical frequency.

All those that didn't really save that much for retirement, and/or took big losses and got out and didn't reinvest - those folks have no money for RV or retirement traveling. The economy generally looks soft and I imagine the banks will start tightening real soon. They had just eased up on RV financing and now it will probably contract again.

Congratulations to Winnebago in claiming the top spot for the year. IMO that shows commitment to the segment and I'm looking forward to seeing how they keep this momentum going.

Roadtrek held the top spot for 25 years I think so my guess is that they will want it back so it should make for a great year for purchasers.
