Re: Photog's Lifted Suspension 2009 Roadtrek 190V

I like the firmness of the 1617 springs. I have found the ride on gravel is crashy but also predictable & controllable unlike the OE springs, just like I'd expect from a firmly sprung road car,...

Re: Photog's Lifted Suspension 2009 Roadtrek 190V

I keep checking them with a digi hand held TP gauge ... I checked them after 60 miles at 65 to 70 mph whilst at 80 psi and there was a +2 psi change. I will re-check after good run now I have dropped...

Re: Photog's Lifted Suspension 2009 Roadtrek 190V

Re: Photog's Lifted Suspension 2009 Roadtrek 190V

Oops yep you are correct Pete ... I had too many numbers in my tiny brain. 80psi on the rear is what I have and it is the max. Thank you for pointing that out. B)

Re: Photog's Lifted Suspension 2009 Roadtrek 190V

Idealy I'd be looking for a compromise setup in the centre of the two, Ie not set up for driving on the left or right as I do similar mileages on both. The pull towards the safety of the verge on the...

Re: Photog's Lifted Suspension 2009 Roadtrek 190V

My van's original setup had scrubbed all the tread off inside edge of both front tires in 10,000 miles so it may have been miles out or indeed caused by the incorrect offset of the AR alloys.

Re: Photog's Lifted Suspension 2009 Roadtrek 190V

Yep van is empty of water & we don't carry much kit.

They were sold on eBay as "take offs" but may have been reconditioned. Paint was like new. To my eyes the make the van look 10 years...

Re: Photog's Lifted Suspension 2009 Roadtrek 190V

My van has had all the parts fitted & despite the fact I still have to re-set the alignment & balance the front wheels I am very happy with the way it drove the 15 miles of twisting potholed country...

Re: Photog's Lifted Suspension 2009 Roadtrek 190V

All the bits apart from 3 of the wheels are here now.
2 of the wheels are on their way and the other has to wait a month in LA as shipping cost exceed the shipping agent's monthly spend limits :( ...

Re: Photog's Lifted Suspension 2009 Roadtrek 190V

If the shocks don't top out in normal carful driving over undulating roads, sharp camber changes, rutted surfaces, speed bumps etc I will be happy. Smashing into unexpected potholes can't be any...

Re: Photog's Lifted Suspension 2009 Roadtrek 190V

I'd hope the shocks are designed to take that load and I would prefer $100 shocks to fail rather than anything else as they are a service item and by far the cheapest bit of the suspension to replace...

Re: Photog's Lifted Suspension 2009 Roadtrek 190V

thanks, having slept on it I think I will order the later shocks as they are the "correct spec" for the van. They are obviously different to the early shocks for good reason ... I can always have...

Re: Photog's Lifted Suspension 2009 Roadtrek 190V

How were you able to shim the top mount down an inch? I need to shim mine down but it looks like I would only get 1/2" if I took the entire top bushing out and used washers on the shock shaft to push...

Re: Photog's Lifted Suspension 2009 Roadtrek 190V

I noted earlier in this tread https://www.classbforum.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=1616&start=120#p10714 that AZ ADVenturist had a 2002 van and found the 1175's too stiff / big, so as they fitted...

Re: Photog's Lifted Suspension 2009 Roadtrek 190V

Re: Photog's Lifted Suspension 2009 Roadtrek 190V

Here are the stock and TTC-1617 coil springs from campskunk's install. His van seems to be identical to mine age/spec wise.

Re: Photog's Lifted Suspension 2009 Roadtrek 190V

Yep that was exactly why I was double checking before I went ahead, but I think mine is a Model Year 2003 van. I am sure campskunk is running the Tufftruk springs and Bilstiens in the same spec/age...

Re: Photog's Lifted Suspension 2009 Roadtrek 190V

Hi booster, thanks for the welcome :D

Mine is a Late November 2002 van built on by RT early 2003 and registered in the UK by March 2003, one of the first of the new shape I think.

Re: Photog's Lifted Suspension 2009 Roadtrek 190V
